“Go for the Tapas and try their fun cocktails!”

Good small plate menu with a nice variety, enjoyable courtyard dining area with a separate bar from inside the restaurant. The server was helpful and efficient. I really enjoyed one of their gin drinks called a Borasco. A great choice on a warm summer evening.

“great tapas lunch”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We enjoyed our lunch at Bravas. We like the tapas style of dining because we enjoy small plates and sharing. Our highlights were the crab and noodles, the bacon wrapped dates, and the quail (which took a while but was worth the wait). We will return.

“Just outstanding!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

We came for dinner to Bravas! What a wonderful experience: the wine, the tapas, the service and the atmosphere all combined wonderfully to create a truly Epicurean experience. Bravas is one of the best restaurants we have experienced in Northern California!

“Pace Yourself for an Excellent Experience”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

The Starks have added to their local Sonoma County restaurant mini-conglomerate with the refurbishment of the old Ravenous house off the square in Healdsburg. Bravas—Bar de Tapas is their newest offering, apparently inspired by a recent trip by the couple to Spain. Healdsburg is rapidly becoming a virtual international food court with establishments featuring the food of Greece, Portugal, several varieties of Mexican including Yucatan, France, the ubiquitous Italian, Creole, and good old American. One can have an interesting, satisfying, and creative meal at Bravas if a proper ordering procedure is followed. It goes like this: Bravas features, not surprisingly, Spanish-inspired tapas which are small dishes designed to bridge the hunger gap between the end of the Spanish work day (at around 6 or 7 p.m.) and dinner at 10 or 11 p.m. They typically are savory bites to be enjoyed with some friends accompanied by sherry, beer, or other beverage while chewing over the day’s events, politics, gossip, or love lives at the local bodega or tavern. As such, the local tavern owners offer snacks to keep the people around and drinking, but, also, the small plates were used (maybe still are in some areas) to be placed on top of the glasses to keep the flies from jumping from the high board into the beverage of choice (hence, tapas). Despite what your server suggests, resist the temptation to order too many plates at once. The food comes out fast and before you know it, not only will your table be covered in plates, but you will be finished with your meal before you can say “Ronald McDonald.” Take your time, order just a couple of dishes that look interesting and have the chosen potion from the extensive list of Sangria, local and Spanish wines, sherries, designer cocktails, and beers. Then order a couple of more dishes once you get a feel for the menu. Then, a few more dishes, maybe change to another potion, and so on. Most everything is good and what you have is really based on personal preferences. Of particular note is the chorizo and Padron pepper, the tortilla Española, the Serrano ham and Manchego cheese sandwich, and the white anchovies. The area in the back is dog friendly, but also can be blistering on a hot Healdsburg afternoon. Service is terrific with the young waitrons ensuring a nice level of energy.

“Took me back to Barcelona”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We introduced friends to the concept of tapas at Bravas. It took a little doing to convince her that, yes, you order something but you don't necessarily get to eat it all yourself! Everything was a winner except the fried strips of pig's ears. We loved the tortilla de patatas, the quail, the beets, the clams or mussels, and the lavendar LEMONADE! everyone else raved about the organic soft serve with choice of toppings. I thought it was overrated. Would love to go back. Great vintage posters of 60 and 70's rock concerts framed. Great 60's and 70's music in background.
