We enjoyed our first visit. What a unique tasting room--converted old general store, plus some neat guest rooms on the property. The wines were very good, especially the Wentworth zin reserve and The General cabernet. Carol was a friendly and knowledgeable server--definitely made the tasting more fun. We are so happy that we signed up for the wine club that includes this winery.

We came here on a whim-- saw the sign on the road at the end of a long day of wine tasting and popped in! The people inside were so friendly, encouraging us to taste all the wines-- not just the five that you're supposed to choose. They waived the $5 tasting fee when we bought some wine AND gave us a 2-for-1 deal on some bottles.

The $50 'General' Cabernet Sauvignon is especially phenomenal, but there were no wines we didn't like.

The feel of the winery is really nice too, it's open and calming and quieter than some of the more famous places. It used to be the post office, and some of the walls are original, which is too cool. Totally worth a visit!

Just about every winery you visit someone is always asking if you would like to join their wine club and my answer is always "no thank you". After visiting and looking carefully at Soda Rock Winery this past June, we finally said "yes" and here is why. Soda Rock Winery is just one of a family of 8 wineries owned by the Wilson family located throughout the Sonoma valley. Being a member in one winery, extends your privileges on the other Wilson wineries, like free tasting, discounts, events, guest cottage rentals, etc. In general you are treated like one of the family at all the other wineries. So far it's been working out great for us and have visited 3 of the other Wilson owned wineries, with Mazzocco being one of our favorites. As for the Soda Rock Winery, the wine tasting room is a stone building and from the outside it looks a little like the Alamo in San Antonio. Inside it is very spacious, with the wine tasting done on an old fashioned western saloon. You feel like your sitting in a bar and not a tasting room. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. The Soda Rock 2005 Cab "Mercantile" and 2006 "Meeks" Merlot were excellent. Fun place to visit and great wines to taste, enjoy.

Diane and Ken Wilson bought this property in 2000, the site of the old Alexander Valley General Store, and transformed it into an eclectic tasting room using recycled materials including a facade from a mission style stone building. The property has guest rooms and hosts parties, weddings etc in the large, comfortable room and lovely garden area. Best yet, the wines have that Wilson touch- rich, fruit forward Cabs that are garnering awards just as the Wilson's namesake wines. However, at a recent tasting I fell for a 2009 Primitivo that I had to have! Grace did a wonderful presentation of the wines and gave us a side by side tasting, which was a great way to enjoy these fine wines.
