“The most relaxing weekend”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

The Grape Leaf Inn is an A+. My husband and I went away for the weekend and the Grape Leaf was just so relaxing. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the service was always with a smile. We had wine tasting in the evening and a breakfast that I will never forget. We were walking distance to downtown where we had a great dinner and don't forget the winetasting. I would recommend the Grape Leaf to everyone I know.

Room Tip: The new side for the home has fireplaces which just make the night more romantic...

The Grape Leaf Inn is a very nice B&B located within a short walk of the center of Healdsburg. The rooms are large and comfortable. There are several nice common lounge spaces, including outside in the arbor. The staff was most helpful with ideas and reservations. They hold a free daily wine tasting in their hidden basement "speakeasy". Breakfast is at 9:00 but coffee is available much earlier. We left very early our second morning and they provided breakfast items in the fridge for our departure. A jasmine-scented respite from the "labors" of visiting vineyards.

We love the Grape Leaf Inn and it's always our first choice for a Sonoma visit. It's a lovely property, well maintained, excellent location, and the best breakfasts we've had anywhere! We've been coming here for years and I don't think we've repeated a meal yet. The food is creative, delicious and beautifully presented - an amuse bouche to start (one morning it was a strawberry shooter, the next it was chopped fresh mango & lime), main course, and a fruit creation to finish.
The rooms are very comfortable (great beds!) and well-appointed. Some have beds tucked under sloping eaves, as pictured on the website, with skylights you can open. Note that there are two sections, the original and the newer addition; rooms in the new wing have fireplaces which is nice during cooler months.
It's a short walk into the center of town for dinner, and you'll find a plate of homemade cookies in the dining area every afternoon/evening. The speakeasy downstairs is now open only one weekend night for happy hour, but there's a complimentary bottle of wine in your room to enjoy.
The owners, Richard and Kae, are wonderful hosts. They really went above & beyond when we had a problem with our rental car, and thanks to their help (including running to the auto parts store for us!) we were able to get back on the road without losing a lot of time.
This is the best B&B we've found anywhere, and I highly recommend!

Exactly what a B&B should be! Grape Leaf Inn is the perfect place to stay in Healdsburg if you're touring the Sonoma (Russian River/Dry Creek) wine country. A turn-of-the-century house beautifully restored and furnished with period antiques; while the house was expanded several years ago to increase capacity, the expansion is seamlessly integrated into the original home. If you want quaint, get a room in the original house; if you want a larger bedroom and larger more modern bath, get a room in the newer addition.

Just a few blocks north of the square in Healdsburg, so you have the convenience of walking to one of the excellent restaurants for dinner. And this is a B&B that takes the "breakfast" part seriously. Excellent gourmet fare based on recipes of the owner; one morning it was crepes filled with a warm, homemade apple compote and a beautiful egg/cheese souffle with fresh herbs - certainly not your usual warmed over scrambled eggs and a bagel!

To top it off, the staff are warm and helpful and make you feel truly welcome and at home. Make sure you ask to see the "secret" speakeasy and wine cellar in the basement, with it's door hidden behind a bookcase!

We stayed at the Grape Leaf with another couple over the Easter break and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property was top notch and the location is only a few blocks from the center of town but quiet enough to feel like you're not overwhelmed. The beds were very comfortable (we stayed in the Mourvedre room) and the daily breakfast was excellent. Kay is very nice and extremely helpful and accommodating. We'll be back!

We just spent a delightful weekend at this Healdsburg B&B, where the room was charming and well-kept, the breakfast outstanding and the service very hospitable. The breakasts were truly gourmet - the best we've had in our B&B experience. The manager helped us with suggestions on which local wineries to visit. And we did enjoy the Speakeasy wine-tasting by the owner. All in all, a wonderful experience. We do look forward to going back.
