We looked forward to visiting this prestigious winery and was very disappointed due to poor customer service at the tasting room. The gentleman "A..." was not engaged in our tasting and had strong opinions about everything and didn't know much about their wine club offerings nor did he try to find out. Arrogance is the description that best describes our visit and what a disappointment since the property is so gorgeous and breathtaking. The tasting room was not crowded and there was plenty of oppty to ensure customers had a memorable visit.

Certainly not on purpose, but we visited on a cold, rainy day - Super Bowl Sunday in fact - and had the lower tasting room (higher end wines) all to ourselves. That allowed for some very personal touches during the tasting in terms of discussing each wine I selected in depth as well as helping point us toward specific wines. The grounds are incredible, even in the rain in winter. Highly recommended!

Lovely visit even if numerous miles northwest of Calistoga. Hedges and courtyards are exquisitely groomed. Two separate wine tasting bars inside. The presenters were extraordinarily social with story telling and with wine information.

Ferrari Carano is probably the prettiest winery I've ever visited. Five acres of beautifully landscaped gardens await you filled with flowers, trees, ponds and sculptures. Within the exquisite Villa are the tasting room and gift shop, with additional tastings of the limited release wines downstairs in the enoteca. There is a restaurant on the grounds as well, and the entire experience is upscale and elegant. There is a $5.00 charge for tasting 4 wines (assuming you're visiting with a partner, you can share your 4 wines, or each make different selections so that you're tasting 8 wines.) Tastings in the enoteca are $15.00 for three tastes.

Ferrari's wines are very good (I favor their fume blanc) and between the lovely surroundings and the solid wines, this is one stop in the Dry Creek Valley where you can plan to spend extra time.

They have very good white wines here, but the the grounds and the reputation of the place make it usually crowded and noisy. Visit the place to tour the grounds.
