“Best of the Best”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

One of the most beautiful wineries in the entire Russian River Valley. It takes one back to Italy with its flowers, statutes, landscaping and of course its wine which is second to none!. The Carano family has truly created one of the most must see wineries in either Napa and/or Sonoma regions.
One must take the time to truly appreciate all that has been developed and mainatained.

We had no idea what to expect! The grounds were straight out of italy! The wine was very very good! We stayed for hours! We also bought plenty of wine to take home!

“Over the top Beautiful place; very ordinary wine”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Our friends knew it would be a stunning time of year to visit and they were right on. The gardens were in full bloom and crisply manicured. Beautiful Italianate villa screams a lot of money was spent. Fun items in the gift shop. Everyone bought a few non-wine souvenirs. Knowledgeable tasting staff but no wine any of us wanted to take home. We enjoyed ourselves but were surprised there was no handicap access and no chairs for senior or less able folks. Staff said they've mentioned this repeatedly. Beautiful on the surface but has lots of room for improvement in hospitality and wine quality. Check local magazines for 2 for 1 tasting coupons.

“Beautiful winery and good wines”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

This was the first winery that we visited on a wine tour. The grounds were beautiful and reminded me of Italy. We opted for the more expensive tasting ($15 for 4 wines) in the downstairs tasting room. I think that the extra money was worth it. The downstairs has a very nice and more relaxing atmosphere. The wines were unique - not the ones that I can buy at the liquor store at home. I really liked being able to choose the wines that I wanted to try (this was not the case at all of the wineries we visited). I split a tasting with my husband and they had no problem with 2 of us sharing. I really enjoyed their Chardonnays - not as oaky as some others. My only gripe would be the woman who helped us with our tasting. She was not very friendly and didn't seem that happy to be there. One person in our group said that she was "robotic" and that was an apt description. Maybe we just caught her on an off day but we were not impressed. I would also encourage you to stop in at the gift shop. Not only can you buy wines, but they had some great items for wine lovers. And, if you spend $80, your tasting fee is refunded.

“Must See Winery”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

We were told Ferrari-Carano was a "must see", and we must agree. The winery has free tours each morning at 10:00 am. Since we were there on a Tuesday, we were able to get in without much notice. The tour was great, but even if you can't make that, you should definitely visit Ferrari-Carano. The grounds and winery are BEAUTIFUL. It was well worth the visit and the wines were fantastic too!!
