What a great find! We loved this place! My husband and I stayed at the Honor Mansion for 3 nights in June and thought this was the perfect location to explore some of the other areas of Sonoma County. The Honor Mansion thought of everything so you didn't have to. Sometimes we are hesitant about staying at B & B's becasue we like our privacy so often we ask for rooms with outside entrances. We don't like to feel like we are disturbing other guests if we come in late or leave early. There is plenty of privacy and even though we stayed in the main house (Magnolia Room), we felt very at home to come and go as we pleased. We even left at 5am two mornings to go hot air ballooning. When we returned the first day after not being able to go up due to weather, HM was very accomodating with breakfast even though we told them we would not be there originally. We enjoyed the Bocce courts every evening and the pool is a great place to relax if even for an hour. This is a great location to explore the back roads in Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and the Russian River Valley. Cathi recommended Cena Luna for dinner one evening and was one of the best meals of the trip. Would definatley return. Loved that you could walk to downtown Healdsburgfrom HM. Don't miss the Dry Creek General Store and Cowboy Bar for picnic supplies.

Our two-night stay in the Angel Oak room at the Honor Mansion is our eighth stay at this incredibly beautiful Sonoma County Wine Country inn. On our visits, we have thoroughly enjoyed the rooms in the main house as well as the cottages and vineyard suites, each of which offers its own unique and wonderful experience, making it difficult for us to select one room over another.

The Angel Oak room offered every luxury, with all of the amenities being too numerous to mention here. We were treated to fabulous linens and towels, and a variety of bath accessories was provided for our use. The hand-painted murals in the bathroom and bedroom, which were portrayed by a local artist, took us to another place and time. We were able to unwind while relaxing on the adjoining private sun deck overlooking the exceptional pool area.

We really loved the delectable offerings of freshly baked cookies and afternoon appetizers and wine tasting. Each morning, as we arose to prepare for the day, the staff delivered to our door hot coffee and tea along with scrumptious biscotti. This was followed by a generous and second-to-none sit-down gourmet breakfast served outside on the deck, a beautiful location next to a sizable koi pond surrounded by lush plantings and dense vegetation. One of our favorite delights was the availablity of specialty coffees provided at any time of the day or night. Bottled water and sodas were also available at any time.

We have especially appreciated the private and quiet atmosphere surrounding this delightful inn. We've never noticed, as mentioned by another reviewer, noisy air conditioners and roads at any time. We love the inn's close proximity to Healdsburg and relish the easy walk into town on the paved pathway across the street from the inn. There are plenty of activities to enjoy at the inn: a bocce ball court, tennis court, swimming pool, putting green, and gorgeous gardens in which to meander throughout the four-acre property.

Steve and Cathi Fowler, the innkeepers/owners, along with their professional and friendly staff have always made our stay a very memorable one. Their knowledge of the Russian River Wine Country makes it easy for them to recommend extraordinary sites worth visiting, incredible wineries worth stopping at, and first class local restaurants worth dining in.

We never tire of returning to the Honor Mansion but always look forward to our next visit to this heavenly spot on earth, a pristine and divine place of luxury and relaxation only made possible because of remarkable innkeepers/owners like Steve and Cathi and their excellent staff who attend to every possible detail and dedicate themselves to making our time there one that is savored for years to come.

We recently stayed at the Honor Manor for two nights, and overall I agree with all of the reviews here in terms of the special touches and service. The breakfasts were wonderful. The afternoon wine and appetizers were a welcome treat after busy days wine-tasting. The turn-down service with the linens placed on the floor on either side of the bed with the complimentary slippers all layed out was an elegant touch. The staff was smiling the whole time, and they made one feel both welcome and cared for. The pool was comfortable and a welcome refreshment during the heat of late June. And overall the grounds are just beautiful.

Now I will share a few pieces of information not mentioned in most of the other reviews that might affect some people's decision as to whether to stay here. First, no one has mentioned the location of this inn. While the grounds themselves were exquisite, in fact the inn is located on a rather busy street rather removed from downtown. The lack of sidewalks along this road mean that while one could in theory walk the mile to downtown, it is not recommended for safety reasons, especially at night. Also the inn is situated between this busy street on the front and Route 101 along the back. This highway is well screened across the back side of the property, but is nevertheless audible, especially in the rear area of the property, which is where the "Vineyard Suites" are located. The road out front was also quite audible around the grounds in the front of the property, and while we didn't stay in the suites in the front of the property (Garden Suite and Squires Cottage), I would guess that if one opened the windows there it could be a bit noisy.

Finally, almost all of the rave reviews here are from people who stayed in the various cottages. We stayed in the inn itself, and while our room (Angel Oak room) was well appointed, it was rather small and once we brought in our luggage, a bit cramped. The deck off of our room was a nice addition, but unfortunately, the air conditioner unit atop the neighboring Garden Suite was running constantly and made our time out there a bit less enjoyable.

Please don't mis-construe our overall experience. The Honor Mansion has all to offer that they advertise. And if one stays in the cottages and keeps the windows closed (as was necessary due to the summer heat the whole time we were there) I am sure that the experience is as exquisite as those who write here indicate. But be aware that the experience is understandably less opulent in the less expensive inn rooms, and that if you prefer fresh air to air conditioned air, you will have to deal with some noise issues.

I find it very interesting that this guest felt the need to educate future guests regarding rooms in which he has never stayed. It is true that our property of almost 4 acres is somewhat bordered by roads, what property isn't. The front street, "Grove" is a country type street. No sidewalks, however, on the east side of the street (across from the inn) there is a paved path which is about 1/2 of a block long and meets a sidewalk with street lights the rest of the way into town, another 4 1/2 blocks. Most of our guests walk into town for dinner using the flashlights we provide, depending on the weather. There are no "safety issues". In 13 years we have never had a guest tell us that they walked into town and were in anyway "uncomfortable" let alone didn't feel "safe". Regarding the "road" noise; I feel that our tripadvisor reviews speak for themselves. If it was any issue at all, I do believe that someone who had actually paid and stayed in one of our largest suites would have taken the time to mention it in their review. How would this person know if you can hear road noise from any of the rooms he mentioned? He never stepped foot inside one of them! He did speak to the noise of the air conditioner he could hear from his deck outside his room. As we were having a heat wave of 100+ temperatures and not cooling down at night, all air conditioners were running 24 hours a day and everyone kept their windows closed. If the air conditioner is running, it's because it is needed and all windows will be closed so what is the point? He wouldn't have opened the window because it was hot enough to be uncomfortable without the air conditioner on and the window closed. In terms of the guests experience being less opulent in the less expensive rooms well duh! You get what you pay for and fortunately for this guest, as is true for all of our guests, the service and amenities of our property stay the same with the exceptions being the size of the room and the configuration of the bathrooms and fireplaces. All guests are treated equal.

We had a wonderful but too short (2 nights) stay in the Garden Suite at the Honor Mansion in Mid June. The main house itself is beautiful, the Garden Suite is so private with a private drive and both private front and back entrances and patios. Loved the private back patio with the jacuzzi tub for two. Wonderful towels, linens, toiletries, anything you could think of.

There was always fresh baked cookies, biscotti, coffee, bottled water, sodas, and more available. There was even sunscreen by the towels at the pool. Unfortunatly it was too cool to use the pool, but it looked very clean, as did the pool chairs. The owners have really thought of everything. In the room, there are CDs by the CD player, movies by the TV, the fireplace was needed for heat but added great ambience. It was fun to play tennis surrounded by beautiful roses and mountains in the distance. The computer terminal in the upstairs hall was a very conveinent place to check e-mail and winery addresses.

The Garden Suite was the most comfortable accomodations of our 14 day trip to Northern California.

We spent two nights at The Honor Manison, and wished we could have stayed for a week! Upon arrival at the beautifully restored home we found a local winemaker on the patio, offering complimentary tastings of his wines. Delicious hors de'ourves and wines were set out in the late afternoon. The excellent and very friendly staff constantly replenished fresh cookies, iced tea, bottles of water and soda. Everyone worked hard to make guests feel welcome and happy.
While the espresso/cappuchino/hot chocolate machine is available 24/7, hot coffee and tea with fresh pastry was set outside the guest rooms early every morning. Breakfast, served outdoors if desired, was truly gourmet. We loved a "starter" of blueberries and peaches in Gran Marnier, topped with granola and whipped creme.
Gravel paths bordered by gorgeous roses meander through the extensive grounds (beautiful pool, tennis, basketball, croquet, koi pond, fountains, massage pavillions, etc.). There are plenty of intimate places to sit outside and sip wine! Web/brochure photos don't capture all the beauty of this place.
All of the winery and dining advice from owners Steve and Cathie, was excellent. Close to everything, this is a great place to stay in the wine country. (note-next visit we won't stay in the Magnolia room, which has an awkward bathroom.)

This was my first visit to Healdsburg.

I was unfortunately only able to stay one Saturday night, but was lucky enough to get to stay in the Poolside Suite.

Not that I was not expecting much... I was expecting it to be very nice, but it was far, far nicer than I had imagined...

I wish I could have stayed longer... and hope to be back again.

We just returned from a three night stay at the Honor Mansion and have nothing but wonderful things to say about this inn. It offers the perfect combination of resort quality amenities with the intimacy of a bed and breakfast. Their attention to detail is remarkable -- from slippers placed by the side of your bed each night to coffee delivered to your door (prior to your three course breakfast) you will leave here feeling pampered and delighted.

We have stayed at some lovely inns in the past, but the Honor Mansion was the best we have ever enjoyed. Excellent in every way!
