“A lovely place”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

This truly is a lovely place and lives up to all of the previous reviews. Every detail is attended to. The suite was cozy with all of the amenities one could ask for including excellent bath amenities, a comfortable king size bed, sherry for a late night sip, comfortable chairs for tv viewing and just relaxing, and a nice spa area in the back. The wine and cheese event was excellent with quality wine and tasty hors de vourves. Our reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 are somewhat preferential as well as a few things that could be changed. Yes, there are three outdoor sitting areas in the garden suite but highly unlikely anyone would use them because of the road noise and uncomfortable chairs. The bathroom door is a sliding door that does not allow for much if any privacy, and the chairs around the pool needed cushions. We guessed cushions are available; perhaps they were not out because of the weather. Most importantly for us though is the value per dollar. We don't mind paying for upscale accommodations, yet if we were to do it again, we would spend our $$$$ on a place with a view or a house. By all means, though, I would recommend the Honor Mansion for those who enjoy the B&B experience.

Thank you for writing us a review with so many compliments about everything you enjoyed at the Honor Mansion, from the delicious wine and appetizers to the luxurious linens and spacious patios! We are glad that you felt we had paid close attention to every detail and that the amenities were pampering! We do remove the pool chair cushions when there is a chance of rain, as well as any on outdoor private decks when rain is threatening but we will always place them out if a guest requests that we do so. The iron tables and chairs on your two front patios were designed with morning coffee in mind. The rear deck with wicker chairs and tables were thought of more for evening wine or private breakfast. Our hospitality philosophy is that we will do our best to fulfill any need of our guests as soon as we can upon request, we do wish you had asked.

We also want to thank you for your feedback about the chairs on the Garden Suite patios; we will certainly evaluate them, since this is the first time we have ever heard that they were not comfortable.

We have built the pocket sliding door in our Garden Suite for more space and convenience rather than a swinging door which takes up a lot more room.

The two front Garden Suite patios are towards the front of the house which is on a 30 MPH country road, so there is a bit of road noise at certain times of the day, mostly between 2 and 6 pm. There is little if any traffic after 9 p.m. as we are on a residential street. We assume that you chose the Garden Suite because of the privacy and private entrance as well as private parking area. We hope that guests who are extremely sensitive to road noise will look at the resort grounds map on our website to choose a room that they feel will suit their needs best!

When considering value, we always consider all of the extras that our guests are given complimentary, (which would not be included at a vacation house) including the quality wine you enjoyed, appetizers, Mimosa breakfasts, WIFI, parking, water, cookies, sherry, as well as the use of our resort grounds for no additional cost. When added up, the value of staying at the Honor Mansion certainly makes sense to the majority of our guests.

Thank you for recommending the Honor Mansion for all the reasons you do, and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again sometime!

Warm Regards,
Steve, Cathi, & the Honor Mansion Staff

This place has thought of it all. They are very welcoming! We were upgraded from the angel room to the pool suite because that room was open. We were thrilled! The pool suite is amazing. It has two decks, one of which is a private whirlpool deck off of the bathroom, a definite highlight. We received a $40 bottle of wine in our room as well as many complimentary drinks, snacks, cookies, biscotti, coffee and don't forget the amazing breakfast. The area of Healdsburg and surrounding area is amazing too. So beautiful with a lot to do and see. Many vineyards in the area, one after another. The town is very upscale. It does not seem to only have 10,000 in the town. The restaurants are all nice, the downtown square is cute with lots of shops. The Honor Mansion is super close to downtown. Overall, considering staying here, you really can't go wrong. It was a definite highlight of our trip to the area!

This was our second consecutive Easter to spend at Honor Mansion. Easily as good as the first trip, if not better. We stayed in the Garden Suite rather than a room in the house like last time. It was plenty large with a sitting area, wet bar, large bathroom with double sinks and double shower heads, and a large secluded patio with a Jacuzzi bathtub for two. We also had our own parking space.

The service here is just tremendous. They anticipate almost every need up to umbrellas by the door (we had a few light showers) and a picnic basket with blanket for the day. The breakfast is always delicious!

Because we had stayed there before, we knew of the well-manicured grounds out back. So, we played a little tennis and basketball (all equipment provided). We skipped the bocce ball, putting green and croquet this time, but still enjoyed walking the area.

From 4-6, they serve wine and appetizers. Considering our big breakfasts, wine tastings, and picnics, we didn't need more than this for dinner and just stayed in. Evenings were easily taken up with a soak in our private Jacuzzi, watching a DVD from their library, etc. A very romantic weekend!

With so many wineries and great food in the area, I look forward to coming back many more times!

Room Tip: The vineyard and garden suites are the best!

We went to Healdsburg, CA to go wine tasting in Dry Creek Valley with another couple from Texas. We wanted to stay at a B&B close to town. The Honor Mansion turned out to be even better than we anticipated. The property is lovely and the hosts very gracious. Upon arrival we were shown to our room. There was a bottle of wine and a cake (it was my husbands birthday). We settled in and them went to the patio area for a wine tasting/happy hour. Cool and serene with koi ponds and lush landscape. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town square of Healdsburg. Shopping, restaurants, and of course wine tasting are all within a 10-15 minute walk. Breakfast was a great start to the day. They had a mimosa menu to start you off and the food was good. This is a great area for couples, friends, adult groups. It is not a kid friendly place as you might expect. I could go on, but will end with saying that I would go back here anytime, but would recommend the spring or fall as summer is quite warm and more crowded.

Room Tip: Our room had a private outside sitting area and mini fridge that was stocked with water and soft dri...

This was our 8th trip to the wine country but our first staying at Honor Mansion. We love the Healdsburg area and surrounding wine regions and staying there seemed like a good gateway to the Alexander and Dry Creek valleys. We stayed in the Garden Suite which exceeded our expectations. Although at the front of the property - we could not have had more privacy. Loved all the outdoor space especially private patio with jacuzzi. The thing that makes the Honor Mansion so special is their thoughtfulness and attention to detail. We had a lovely chocolate cake waiting for us in our room to celebrate our birthdays as well as a bottle of local wine, some sherry in the decanter, coffee brought to our room every morning, special amenities for the jacuzzi tub, fluffy bathrobes, and every bathroom amenity you would ever need. I felt like I was at home. I also appreciated the way Steve the innkeeper took time with every guest over breakfast to give advice and help them cater their day to their specific needs and interests. The massages out by the pool were fantastic and the breakfasts in the morning - bountiful and delicious. It's also the kind of place where you feel like you have it all to yourself - even if the inn is full. You see people at breakfast but the grounds and cottages are peaceful and private -- perfect for a romantic escape. My only negative comment is the road noise. Although you would never think you were near a busy street and freeway from the beauty of the property - you do hear the cars whirring by. It's not enough to make a huge difference in the overall scheme of things -- but should be noted. Highly recommend the Honor Mansion - rooms, service and breakfast all top notch - hope to return next year.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to write such a detailed review! We appreciate your lovely compliments and are so pleased that we went above and beyond what you were expecting. Surprising our guests with a truly pampering experience is such a great pleasure of ours!

We are glad that your suite was private and quiet even though it is near the front of the property; we have made an effort to build a resort oasis in our grounds and we are very happy that you found we did a great job of this!

Thank you again for your kind words, and we look forward to giving you another wonderful experience again next year!

Until then,

This was our 4th trip to Healdsburg, CA. On our prior trips we had stayed at a local hotel chain. We choose Honor Mansion on this trip because of all the positive comments we heard and walking by Honor Mansion while we stayed at the local chain hotel a few blocks away. What a wonderful decision. Waking up each morning to a bright California sun shining through our windows made our day very enjoyable. We are not sure if a day can start much better! The Honor Mansion staff completely takes the next step to make sure your stay is more than enjoyable. Their recommendations for local dining suggestions and winery visits are spot on. We where totally impressed by a last minute arrangement that was made with Williams - Selyem winery by the Honor Mansion staff. Something we couldn't get done. Thank you Honor Mansion for allowing us the opportunity to be part of something special. Our only regret was not staying here during our other three visits to Healdsburg. See you again next Spring!

Room Tip: East facing rooms = wonderful morning sunshine!

My husband and I decided to tack on a short trip to Healdsburg on our way home from another place. Our flight into San Fran landed late in the evening and then we rented a car to drive up to Healdsburg. Knowing we would be late arriving to our hotel we made arrangements with the staff for late arrival. They had our room key in a lock box with directions of exactly where to park and how to get into our suite.

It was wonderful! We walked into our suite and there was a small plate of cheese and crackers, a bottle of chilled wine, a small cake and a note welcoming us to the Inn. It was truly lovely. Having arrived at 1:30 am, we were blown away by this hospitality.

The concierge from the hotel had also helped us plan our first wine day and had made a reservation for us as well. (Amanda was wonderful.)

Breakfast our first morning was on the go since we were running behind for our wine tour appt. Fruit and quick breads bagged up along with some fresh coffee were made up for us. But we made it back in time for appetizers and wine with the other guests that evening. Afterwards we headed back to our private garden and enjoyed our private whirlpool tub to rest and relax.

Breakfast the next day was amazing. A wonderful egg dish with ham and hollandaise on the side. Mimosas were flowing and fruits and breads of all kinds were there for the taking. It was a feast.

This hotel is not inexpensive, but once you couple everything that comes with your room, I believe we got the better end of the deal!

Truly a fabulous experience to be remembered for along time to come!
