“Food improved since last visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014 via mobile

Visited on Australia Day and there were only 6 people there apart from the 4 of us.
We went for the Thai part of the menu and found that the quality of the food hand improved substantially since the last visit.
We had thai fish cakes and the vegetarian curry puffy which were very light and tasty.
The mains comprised chicken cashew nut, beef green curry, stir fried chilli basil stir fry and the stand out dish of garlic and pepper beef stir fry. The plates were of generous size and we needed to order more rice to Finnish them off. Bill for four came to $96 including $4 corkage for 2 bottles of wine. Service is still a bit slow but we were not in any hurry so were not put out to any degree. Will go back a little more often now.

“Very Average Eatery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2014

Had lunch at Tao with the family. Ordered chicken teriyaki, prawn tempura bentos, salmon and tuna salads, salmon sushi and some dishes from the train. Food quality was above average but lacking in authentic flavour, teriyaki sauce was too diluted. The orders took a seemingly long time to arrive. Not impressed with the service at all.

“The kids loved the sushi train!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

We really enjoyed eating here. The kids loved the train and everything that we tried was delicious. Even though we arrived for a late lunch/early dinner, there was a nice variety of dishes to try. Had a quick look at the menu but didn't feel the need to order from it this time. I would definitely visit again if I was down this end of town at a later date.

“Thai, Japanese & Vietnamese Options”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

Went to our usual eating place Thai Garden but it had closed so hunted around and came across
Tao Cafe near where we live. The place was about half full at 8pm so got seats for 2 easily.
They offer Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese, we opted for chicken sate as a starter which comprised of 3 sticks with a nice sate sauce with crunchy bits of peanuts, they did not bring any eating utensils so we scouted another table for some forks. My wife and I shared a Prawn Pad Thai $18 and Chicken stir fried chilli and basil $16.50 and a serve of steamed rice. Did not think much of the Pad Thai but the chilli chicken was very nice. With corkage on our BYO wine came to $48 for 2. May go back again if we get stuck for somewhere to go.

“The best sushi in Perth!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

I have been to Tao several times now for lunch and dinner and this is a hidden gem in the burbs. They offer a great variety of cuisines such as Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai and Chinese and have an amazing sushi train....The food is always fresh, tasty and great value for money. If you are going on the weekend you may need to book in advance, I would definitely book if you are going with a group of people.
