My husband and I had spent the day in LA. We only live in San Diego but decided to find a fairly affordable hotel to stay in for the night because we were both very tired. All the hotels we were looking at were sold out for the night. We weren't too surprised since it was 11:30 on a Saturday night, but it was still getting frustrating. Finally we found this hotel and since the rate was okay (it ended up being 134 for us including tax) we went with it. The first negative experience we had came immediately after checking in. We went to park in the parking garage to the side of the hotel and ended up at the top of the second level with nowhere else to go. All the spots were full and the garage was so tight that we (and 2 other guests - one in front and one behind us) had to back out of the garage. There was a basement garage to the other side of the hotel, under the restaurant, so we decided to try our luck with that. It too was full and so small that we again had to back out of the garage. We asked the desk clerk what we should do. She suggested parking across the street or down the street in another parking garage. She did not seem to care very much about our situation. We parked across the street with no problem, but I see no reason why a hotel should run out of parking for its guests. Finally we went inside. We had no toiletries since we decided to stay last minute so we asked if the desk had any toothpaste we could have, since the little store inside had been closed since 9 pm. She looked but said there was nothing they could find but they could have toothpaste sent to our room at 8:00 the next morning if we wanted. We said that was fine and went to our room. The room was fairly nice. Large, clean, and the AC worked, which we loved. The bed was pretty comfy, and the bathroom was satisfactory. There was a random bottle opener looking thing attached to the counter in the bathroom which was kind of weird to me, but whatever. I think the remote in the bedroom was broken, but we weren't really interested in watching TV anyway, being so exhausted. Then this morning we didn't get the toothpaste till 8:40. That was annoying. When we went back down to the lobby about 5 minutes later, I noticed that the little store was supposed to open at 7am according to the posted hours but it still wasn't open. It didn't really matter for us, but some people could have really needed something. Overall, the room was fine, even the lobby was beautiful. But the parking situation was a nightmare and I feel that the desk clerk could have been more sympathetic to make the whole thing a little nicer. Also, I think the store should stick to its hours since its guests may need something. It wasn't a horrible place, but be prepared for the negative aspects of your stay.
