“Clean, large room, convenient to AP”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

After missing my Fri am flight from LAX, I decided to spend the nite near the AP, where I could spend the day shopping & visiting Manhattan Beach. This hotel met my needs @ $139. There is no complimentary shuttle. Taxi from AP was $20, & taxi to Manhattan beach was $16. There are restaurants & grocery stores across the street, & a mall between hotel & beach area. Hotel was clean & quiet, with large room. My only complaint is that I asked the desk clerk to call me a can to AP & he failed to do so. I guess this was a low priority to him, but I was in a hurry. I should have called the cab myself.

I recently attended a wedding at this hotel, and was wowed. Beautiful hotel, lovely artwork, elegantly furnished bedrooms. The outdoor courtyard is charming, and the wedding reception food and service were outstanding. The exterior is unprepossessing but don't be fooled, the hotel is special.

I've stayed at the Ayres Hawthorne/Manhattan Beach several times in the last few months, both alone and with my family - must be 40+ nights. We love it.

Just 10 minutes to the South of LAX and close to dozen shops and restaurants The Hotel is great with comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation, and a great bar and restaurant. What separates this hotel from dozens of other hotels in the area is the style of the Hotel, the lovely external courtyard to sit in and enjoy BUT most of all the especially friendly and caring team that takes care of you throughout your stay.

A much better experience than any of the large chain hotels

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the courtyard on the 3rd or 4th floor

I stay at this hotel frequently and I am never disappointed. Staying at the Ayres makes you feel like your in a fine European hotel. It is adorned with marble, stone statues, and gold fixtures. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. It is surprising quiet even though it is next to the freeway. The lobby, courtyard, pool, and restaurant are all very nice. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a shuttle service that will take you to the beach. They also have bikes that can be rented through the front desk. There are several restaurants and retail businesses well with in walking distance. The only con I can think of is that the workout facility/room is a little small and does not offer much equipment. I often have to come back because all the equipment is being used. There is a small running trail in the neighborhood across the street and on the way to the beach.

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms would be the quietest or rooms on the south and west sides if you can't get...

Of course you see what a place looks like these days with internet bookings, but, this really was "WOW" when we arrived, especially because we are art lovers, hence it took us twice as long to get to our room, which was also "wow" as we stopped to look at all the beautiful pieces of art along the long and exquiste hall ways or the nooks along the way.

Although this hotel is on the 4o5 highway, and shops across the road and car dealerships next door, once your inside this buiding, you only feel as though your in a gallery, museum or even a castle somwhere in Europe,

The staff are all fantastic, a quick check in and out, the night we were there they had "happy hour" in the bar which also included half price appetizers between 4 and 7pm. which of course we took advantage of, the ambience was too good to pass up.

The courtyard was really pretty, Although we did not swim I dipped my toes in the pool and spa, both were heated to levels that would have been good to take advantage of, in this cooler weather.

Breakfast was of a fair variety, with fruit, cereals, and hot food toast, and cakes and pastries all available, it is always nice to have a breakfast option in a hotel to get you up and going first thing in the morning.

Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did, the beds are great the bathroom a good size and such nice furnishings, and all though the hotel is next to the freeway, we really had to strain to hear any traffic noise. Oh, and you can get a really good pizza across the road I forget the name of the resturant, but, it's the only Italian one there, also great and friendly service too.

We booked Ayres Hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and now we know why. We stayed for a week in Manhattan Beach and could have never asked for a finer experience. This place is perfectly located and every aspect of the stay is top notch. The staff is incredibly helpful, caring, and courteous. The place is immaculate in every way. Could never give a hotel a better overall review.
