Could be cleaner. Needs update. Great location. Prices are reasonable. Recommend to everyone! Try their hummus plate.

We arrived near closing time but were treated like royalty. If you want authentic Mediterranean cuisine with an amazing taste for bargain prices - this is the place.
My wife had the beef & lamb kabobs with house salad & artichoke hummus - it was fresh, tasty & incredibly seasoned. The salad was the right mix of the best of various greens with a tangy house dressing. Yummy!
I had the pita vegetarian wrap. It was the perfect combination of ingredients.
I wanted to try one of their delicious looking baklava treats - but was so content with the delicious & intriguing meal that I had to resist. Maybe next visit.
My only concern is the restaurant's appearance. It's somewhat dated and would benefit from an upgrade.

Hummus House is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles and is certainly one of the best values. They make wonderful Middle Eastern food, and the staff are all very friendly. It's also certified halal, for those who worry about such things. Since I first discovered it in 2013, Hummus House has become one of my favorite restaurants. If you're flying out of LAX, it's relatively close, so it's a great place to pick up food for the airplane. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with plenty of parking available. The Food Network has highlighted other middle eastern restaurants, a few of which I have tried and are good but don't lay a finger on Hummus House.

Their hummus is truly good enough to incorporate into the restaurant's name but all the other food is excellent as well. They have the best kebabs in Los Angeles. The chicken and lamb kebabs are my favorites, and both are tender, flavorful, and succulent. Their falafel is the best I've ever tasted-- it's crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and has a wonderful flavor. Hummus House has a selection of nine kinds of hummus (including jalapeno and cilantro, kalamata olive, and artichoke, as well as more traditional flavors), and all are fresh, tasty, and addictive. Speaking of addictive, they provide a garlic sauce as a condiment that is good enough to be a meal in itself.

If you're somehow able not to fill up on the main courses, the desserts at Hummus House are equally noteworthy. They make the baklava themselves. The fillo dough, pistachios, and honey are delicious, and make it well worth saving room at the end or boxing up your food for leftovers. They also sell cupcakes, which are reasonably priced and also tasty. Occasionally, they make some cakes and offer them as specials; they are so good that I wish they would offer them more often.

Other reviews mention that their lunches are quite reasonable, and so are their family meals. They have one combination, which includes seven kebabs, four types of hummus, rice, salad, sauces, and pita. It costs $40-$50, depending on how many skewers you upgrade to lamb or fish, but it can easily feed a family with teenagers.

Hummus House is a gem of a restaurant, and it's surprising that it isn't more popular than it is. I recently read an article from a New Yorker lamenting the lack of Manhattan West Side-style halal trucks in Los Angeles, and I can assure any New Yorker that visits Hummus House will be more than satisfied (and you can order the food to go and eat it while walking down Hawthorne Blvd., if you really need to replicate the New York experience).

If you are looking for great Mediterranean food, look no further than Hummus House. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It was honestly one of the cheapest meals we had while in LA. The service was super friendly as well. If I ever return to Hawthorne, I would definitely eat here again.
