“Would try more cake there”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

Driving through town, I stopped to pick up something for dessert later and pastry for morning breakfast. The piece of white cake with raspberry filling and chocolate shell was delicious. Would like to eat some again. The palmiers are best forgotten, I didn't even finish one. They were flaky but flavorless; and dipping half of one in chocolate does nothing for it. I would stop again to try dessert pastries.

“Fresh baked pastry, cakes and bread and breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013 via mobile

This is a regular stop for me at least twice a week for the last 10 years. The owner Tom is a trained French pastry chef and beside the fabulous breads and pastry they also have a wood burning oven that turns out great small size round pizza bread, the kids love them! Now I love to stop on my morning drive to pick up the pumpkin muffins, a must try, just the right amount of pumpkin flavor with raisin, nuts and dusted on top with a little sugar. On the weekends I will take the time for breakfast, Moonside Sramble eggs with veggies and a little chesse with potatoes, prefect start with a cup of Zulu Coffee. Your can also get a lite lunch sandwich in the early afternoon. Worth the stop if your in Half Moon Bay or just Driving down the coast on RT 1

“Decent local bakery, good coffee & pastry, great pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

This bakery is on the HMB main drag and part of the Piazza complex. The main bakery is somewhat small but you can find a table in the piazza courtyard and browse some interesting shops while you wait for your order to arrive. There isn't table service -- you order at the counter and your food is delivered to you. We went for lunch and dessert. Beyond the misunderstanding that I thought I was ordering a personal pizza and a much larger one arrived, I was delighted -- the pizza was absolutely fresh and delicious with great dough. Coffee was good as were the baked desserts. We didn't get a chance to sample much with so many choices. But the place looks reliable with many different options. There's an excellent kitchen shop right next door!

“Average sandwich but pastries looked good!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

We stopped for lunch after gridlock near Santa Cruz! We had sandwiches which were O.K. but not great. The cakes and pastries looked great and we bought some to bring back to the granddaughters. The eating area is on the inside of a small shopping centre which was very quiet, in fact two of the shops closed while we were there. The restrooms had been closed with a sign that said employees only but we were lucky - a lday who had a key let us in. All in all, we won't rush back.

“Always good pastries”

This place has an excellent selection of fresh pastries and beverages- when you combine that with a terrific location on main street in HMB plus a nice area to sit if you want to....it is a winner!
