It was my great proposal day.

Advance booking from the website and mentioned i'm going to propose to her. They put us to a very nice private table with roses on it. Service is tremendous, she kept walking to our table every 5-10 minutes making sure that we're fine, offered to take picture for us many times.

Fantastic appetizer and main course. We had salmon, bbq shrimp and fish. Great taste. Overall ended up paying $150, exclude wine & alcohol.

Parking, valet only with complimentary from the restaurant. Just give the valet guy a tip.

Overall experience was great for me and my fiance. This restaurant is really 5 stars service up to Ritz Carlton standard.

Since the time of my review of the Spa my husband and I have been wanting to find a time to try the Sunday buffet hosted by the Rtiz Carlton in their Navio restaurant. We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving à deux and made the decision to head down the coast. It was a splendid day and we arrived at noon. The holiday setting for buffets at this property shifts to the main ballroom which was beautifully decorated to capture the season and holiday. A good jazz trio provided easy listening background music which was just the right decibel level.

For starters I am not truly a fan of buffets. I don't like to have to keep hopping up and down nor watch that motion all around me. Secondly, I don't want to be tempted to overeat or waste food. The quality and plenty of the offerings definitely made it a struggle not to fall victim to these two sins.

While there were far too many offerings, they all shared the following characteristics: excellent preparation, extremely fresh ingredients and exquisite presentation. Stations included salads, charcuterie, seafood, gold and hot small plates and Thanksgiving offerings as well as a Prime Rib Roast. The pumpkin soup was nirvana in a spoon and the seared scallop with lentils was also a standout. Some items that were quite creative did not seem to be popular (the beef in gelee with horseradish cream was excellent but didn't move off the buffet table). Staff did an excellent job of keeping the buffet tables properly refreshed and looking attractive.

All the Thanksgiving dishes were first rate and the cranberry conserve had some punch provided by some form of spirit. Staff was accommodating. For example I wanted to try the wild mushroom melange that was served in a puff pastry shell but had no room for the carbs at that point. No problem, a serving of the mushrooms was spooned separately on my plate.

The dessert offerings were equally numerous and also included house made chocolates. Fortunately most items were available in small servings which we split.

Service was gracious but as the hall filled it was clear that the staff was starting to get bogged down. Another problem was that the register to process transactions was at the entrance so servers in the back of the room had to cross the entire ballroom with each table check they processed. Another processing station should be created at the other end of the ballroom to expedite transactions.

Given the steep tab ($115 per person) we were surprised that not even one glass of sparkling wine was included. We will gladly go back for another special occasion but this is not every day fare. We worked off some of the calories taking a walk on the coastal access path and it was a perfect afternoon to do so.

We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary here, and had brunch buffet reservations for 1:30pm seating (other seating is 11:00am). Brunch buffet is set priced, and expensive, but it was our anniversary, so we splurged. We requested window seats, which had spectacular views. Service was excellent, and our waiter was attentive and considerate of our special occasion. Food was very good for a buffet (we've been to quite a few, and this was definitely the best we ever had). Afterwards, we went outside to enjoy the beautiful lawns/golf course, and of course, the ocean view. A perfect day!

We enjoyed Thanksgiving Dinner at Navio in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at Half Moon Bay. We ordered the 5 course price fixed menu. Each course was better than the last. All were attractively presented. Both the food and service were excellent. Ask for a seat near the window and time your meal to watch the sun seat over the Pacific Ocean. EXPENSIVE but a special treat.

In a nutshell, we found the food at dinner to be OK but not great given the prices charged. Soup course the best, mains adequate, desserts the weakest. Service was a disaster though, from the host to the waiter to the rest of the staff we encountered.
This review is for dinner -- brunch at Navio was a completely different experience, quite good though wildly more expensive than it should have been.
