Description: The Historic Miramar Beach Restaurant & Bar has a long and colorful history going back more than 70 years. It was originally designed and built as a Prohibition speakeasy to serve the liquor smuggled into the Bay Area through a drop off point on Miramar Beach. We have kept the historical ambiance and decor of the 1920s including an incomparable collection of photos from the era. With only a frontage road between us and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, we have the number one view and sunset on the Coast side.

“Good location marred by mediocre food and slow service.”
Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

Food was bland and unexciting, service extra-ordinarily slow. Copious, empty, valet parking and little else. Probably a tourist magnet - could do SO much better!

“a wonderful view but not the food”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

The person at the front desk of our hotel recommended the restaurant and the trip advisor reviews were favorable. It is a beautiful location just feet from the ocean surf. The service was prompt and polite. In fact, the food came so quickly that we wondered how they had time to make it. We were seated by one of the large windows by the ocean. We wish we had arrived earlier as it was almost dark when we arrived. Ask for a table outdoors. There are heaters and shelter from the wind. I ordered the seafood chowder which was listed as one of their specialities. However, it was missing any hint of seafood and just a few tiny potatoes. I wish I had sent it back and asked for something else. My wife ordered the sea bass which was one of the specials of the evening. It too was a disappointment. It came covered with a white sauce. When that happens, it makes us suspicious of what is being hidden. It hid the sea bass which had no flavor which must be why there was as much sauce as fish! The sea bass came with potatoes and mixed vegetables which were prepared adequately. It is such a beautiful setting. Also live music. If only the food came close to the view. Come for the view, but eat elsewhere.

“Beautiful sunset view of ocean”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

We happened upon this restaurant while visiting Half Moon Bay, and stopped for an early dinner. The steamed mussels and seafood chowder were delicious, and the view overlooking the breakers on the rocks was fantastic. Wonderful, friendly service, and a broad menu.

“Can't beat the view!”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

On a drive down the coast we went to the Miramar when we were not able to get into another restaurant that had been recommended. We arrived and were seated just in time to watch the sun set over the ocean--nice!! The place has a fairly refined atmosphere with professional service but If it were not for the location I would probably rate them one notch lower. The food was good but not great. There are photos posted that depict their history dating back to Prohibition, which are quite entertaining.

“The Miramar is the perfect fusion of land and sea!”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

On a clear day, you can beat the 10 million dollar view in a historical building. It is always crowded most of the time and the service is a bit slow but it is worth it. The service is great and the waiters can be overwhelmed but they are trained to treat each customer as if they are the only one in the dining room! You can't miss coming to this fantastic location!
