“great casual place for fish”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

This is the second time we have visited Barbara's Fishtrap. Always a little wait, but well worth it. Very casual with as many people seated as possible, inside seating as well as a closed in patio. The fish on the fish and chips platter was very moist and the coating was not heavy. We also tried the scallops and chips. The scallops were large and very tender-excellent. We will be back on our next trip to the area.

“Interesting”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

A café style, busy, inexpensive place to eat. Good seafood choice and really pleasant service and atmosphere. It is a bit basic décor and furniture so don't expect the ultimate in luxury. Fish platters were good but everything we had was deep fried. There were other menu items so chose carefully if fried fish is not for you.

Great food, enormous portions, and friendly staff. Just remember to bring cash, 'cause Barbara doesn't take credit cards :)

“Generous portions and quality food”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Saturday lunch for two, waited only a few minutes.
Clam chowder with tons of clams, not creamy – tasty and good value, famous fish and chips well prepared, French fries a little flat. Cheap glass of acceptable house wine.
Saw many gigantic portions of steaming pastas wandering past: will be back for more.
Other option is to pick up food at the take out counter (looked like the same price) and eat on beach or at one of the tables.

“Wonderful family owned place, great fish, shrimp, chowder and burgers!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

This still is, and always will be the best place to eat in and near Half Moon Bay. We have been going here for over 20 years, they have the same people working there, and the food has never changed. It's always good! Sure, you will read that the service is slow, it's small, at times un-friendly, but honestly, if you are in a hurry to eat, go to Burger King. This is a traditional "Mom and Pop" place. They have great outdoor seating with heat lamps, a fun, decorated inside with lots of tables. Great place for kids as long as their parents don't let them yell and scream. Not a great place for handicapped, as the inside is a little cramped.
The clam chowder is awesome, the fish and chips will leave you wanting more! They even make a mean burger! Shrimp and crab sandwhices are always good and fairly priced. Will always go back!
