This friendly establishment features a rare combination of top drawer sushi/sashimi with absolutely zero pretentiousness. This is some of the best raw food I have ever sampled, and other dishes like fried soft shell crabs are fantastic. One formula for a perfect Saturday afternoon: 1) Take a long walk on Poplar Street Beach (after making your way through the laughably difficult parking payment machine). Dress warmly--it's Half Moon Bay remember--and then 2) when you're thoroughly wind blown and ready for a great meal, jump into your car and take the short trip to Sushi Main Street. The two times we've visited we've eaten in the "lounge" and enjoyed the over-the-top sea and sand decor--chairs made of driftwood, table tops seemingly carved out of undersea rock--it's fascinating. OK, the service might have been a little faster, but once we remembered to abide by the slightly slower pace of HMB vs. SF Peninsula, we were fine. In an earlier visit we sat right at the bar and watched the sushi chef at work and his obvious pride in what he did immediately won us over. This earns an unqualified top recommendation. If this place were over the hill in Menlo Park it'd be mobbed from afternoon to late night.
