“A Must Visit - Especially if you're gluten free”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

We visited the area recently with family and had the chance to visit the Pasta Moon restaurant. It popped up on our gluten-free app as one of the few options in the area so off we went. I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is nicely appointed and our table was near the front window with excellent spacing between guests. Our server was outstanding as was all supporting staff. Efficient, responsive, and friendly, we found the environment accommodating for any number of dining experiences including child-friendly, casual/business, and even a bit romantic. Really nice environment.
Now, for the important stuff. The food. Two of our party of four are gluten-free; the other two weren't. We ordered a mixture of appetizers, pasta, and "regular" fare, as well as the all-important dessert. We didn't sample the wines, although my husband partook of a nice port as dessert.
Appetizers were outstanding. My husband tried the olives (he was in heaven) and the rest of us had the soup of the day which was lovely. Absolutely delicious parmesan and FRESH vegetables that still had some bite. They were able to accommodate the soup as both gluten- and gluten-free friendly so everyone was satisfied. The two gluten types LOVED the breads - especially the focaccia - the latter so much that it went home.
The gluten free pasta was excellent. The sauce was nicely balanced and not overdone. Portion was perfect. The gluten pasta looked amazing and my husband (who typically hates pasta so the order was a surprise) finished it off. That says it all. My uncle ordered the lemon chicken which looked delicious and he was quite satisfied. I'd definitely order that in the future. Finally, we had butterscotch pudding for dessert. Heaven.
Overall, this was a really nice dining option and I'd return in a heartbeat. My uncle has lived in the bay area for almost 40 years and frequents restaurants a good deal. He'd never been to the Pasta Moon but said he'd be returning soon with his "lady friend." He was so happy we'd visited since he now had a "new find."
I'd highly recommend the Pasta Moon to both the gluten and gluten-free types out there. Good food, excellent service, and we thought the prices weren't unreasonable.

Great service and nice place. We had a pizza and lasagna, and they were very far from being italian. It might be italian style, but not italian.

“Authentic & Unique Fresh Italian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

We arrived at Half Moon Bay after landing in San Francisco on a delayed and long East Coast flight. We used Trip Advisor to make this selection in lunch locations. It did not disappoint, regardless of the complaints about prices we read on Trip Advisor post our meal. Our gracious, attentive and professional waiter Steve knew the Italian wines and food well. We asked for his explanation and recommendations on both. We had the spicy lamb sausage pasta (forgive us Steve for not using the official name of the type of pasta that resembled a corkscrew), lasagna, minestrone soup and tomato/buffalo mozzarella appetizer. The portion sizes were perfect. The one oaked Chardonnay and entries were excellent. Everything exuded flavor and freshness - farm to table produce and homemade pastas. You shouldn't miss this restaurant or the service of Steve if traveling through Half Moon Bay!

“Yum...don't miss it”

The moment we stepped in we were enveloped by the smell of fresh baked focaccia bread. The service was wonderful, the food...excellent. They have 1 table in a mini courtyard that they allow dogs at...will have to come back and do that. Tasty stuff!

The eggplant parmesan was really good. Everyone had a great time and the service was also good once we got to sit down.
