“Excellent As Always”

Food and service are amazing. The only down sided is they feature only Italian wines. Sorry I have been spoiled by big California Cabs and Petites.

“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

We were here 5 years ago and remembered this restaurant and tried it again last night. It is absolutely the best restaurant in this quaint little town. The town may be quaint but the restaurant could compete with anything in a metropolitan area. Service is great and food is wonderful. I had the pappardelle with mushrooms, tomato cream sauce and a bit of marscarpone on top. My husband had the tagliatelle with salmon and asparagus and both were delicious. We will definitely return every time we are here.

“Surprisingly good for a small town restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

Now, I know Half Moon Bay is not your average small town. But Pasta Moon is almost too good to be in a town this size. We stumbled upon it on our drive from SF to Carmel and got there right as they opened. By the time we left, there were still only 3-4 other tables taken so lunch seems like the time go.

We started with some of their house marinated olives that were delicious. They were offering a corn soup as a special and we both liked that as well. But the entree was the real deal. Butternut squash and marscapone ravioli. This was amazing. The squash was flavorful and the marscapone added a creaminess that shone through.

The staff was very attentive without being intrusive. A very worthy place to stop off in.

“Best restaurant in Half Moon Bay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

Located in the quaint town of Half Moon Bay this restaurant offers an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere for superb, high quality, farm to table fare. Extensive wine menu with reasonable prices ($32 for many bottles) and delectable salad and entree selections. The special salad - tomatoes and burrata and entree (sea scallops) were best dishes. The ravioli ($19) were small and a bit disappointing compared to scallop entree ($23). Cream corn with crab soup was a bit bland. Service was excellent and waiter did not rush us even though it was a busy Saturday night. Larger space than it appears on the outside. Unisex bathrooms were clean. Hostesses were friendly and it was recommended to make reservations. Service superior to any other place we tried in Half Moon Bay. Parking can be a challenge.

“Pleasant Surprise!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

We stopped by Pasta Moon for lunch after a morning tide pooling in Moss Beach - based on its convenient location and the tripadvisor reviews. All the food was very good, the specials of the day delicious. Each selection was flavorful without over-powering the individuality of the ingredients. Most admirably, all the seafood was sweet, fresh and cooked well - and its flavor showed through the preparations. The corn soup was rich with the flavor of corn, the heirloom tomatoes were a perfect ripeness and served with an excellent fresh and creamy burrata perfectly salted to complement the tomatoes, the mussels rich with a multitude of flavors. The fish of the day, puttanesca, and papardelle all satisfied, as did the desserts: Meyer Lemon parfait, affogato and strawberry shortcake. The homemade bread was good for mopping up the sauce, but soft, not crusty, while the homemade pasta was definitely fresh, but not quite best in class. Service was friendly, thoughtful and attentive. The wine, beer and cocktail list looked appealing. There are private rooms and banquet facilities. All together, an excellent neighborhood restaurant - better than many in more populous Bay Area locations. Very welcoming of small children and dress is casual. We would definitely return if in town for a meal.
