I took my family to stay for a night recently. The campground was well organized and the State Park staff was friendly and helpful. We had a space on the outside of a loop (#47) and it gave us a little more distance from the other campers. The pay showers provided very hot water. Beware that the wind from the ocean can be cold. This is a good camp that is near the Bay Area with a great beach.

It was a bit chilly when we went but it was still a great time and there was no one there, so it made for great pictures. If you want to skip paying for parking just park on the street and walk 5 minutes to the beach.

We went here on a day trip. It was a nice place for Pre-nuptial pictures, especially the beach below Ritz ,you can park free at ritz carlton, you just need to get a parking pass from the attendant.

This is the beach you think about when you think of the California coastline. Broad sandy beach that curves on either side. While there is a campground above the beach, at least one tent was pitched on the beach itself. It was chilly and cloudy when we were there in the evening, but still very enjoyable, Our kids had fun running through the cold surf. The ranger did charge us the full rate for parking (~$6) even though we arrived a few hours prior to closing.

I'm finding out that camping on California's beaches actually means camping near them, not necessary on them. At Half Moon Bay SB, you are actually steps from the beach, a rarity it seems. Hot showers by the quarters, educational camp fire programs at night during the summer weekends and a trail miles long taking you to other beaches and towns, like Princeton by the Sea. The camp sites are close together and on a summer weekend, it's very loud at night. Try to get into sites that say tent only, those are a little farther from the crowd.
