We've been going to the Riverlane each summer after school lets out for our children and grandchildren for the past five years. The kids always count the days til the following summer. We take three of the same cabins each year. The cabins are simple, not fancy, and they do sometimes have nonfunctioning items. But the owner is quick to remedy anything you tell them is not working.
The pool is enclosed and fun for families with small children. Johnson's beach is a short hop on foot and we'll spend one day on the beach to enjoy the river. This is a great place to gather your family and have a bonding few days. Love it here.

Room Tip: Our favorite is Rm 4.

We stayed here, in Cabin 6, just before Easter, after a long road trip from Las Vegas. We arrived a little early and our cabin was not ready; Dave, the helpful owner, had his hands full mowing his huge lawn. So, we went to the local laundry, as you do after a long road trip.

We were pleased on moving in, to find that cabin #6 was exactly what we were looking for: a peaceful haven to unwind in. As others have pointed out, this is not 5 star accommodation, it is a tad old but it is clean, comfortable and was perfect for us. Barbecuing on the large deck after a full day in the surrounding & magnificent redwoods was a sheer delight.
The river is a mere 100 metres from the deck which over looks the (freshly mowed) lawns.
The peace was fantastic - the only noise was from a family of grey squirrels munching on their acorns - now THAT is peace.
The kitchen is large and well equipped, in the rustic but not rudimentary sense. The bathroom is old but plenty of hot water and clean towels.
We would heartily recommend this resort and the magnificent area. With the strong Australian dollar, Australians crawling all over our favourite foreign country and I really recommend fellow travellers to get out of town and see this magnificent area: beautiful scenery, great people, excellent local produce and very drinkable wines. All in all, a first class experience.

Room Tip: River front cabins, at the rear are best for view.

My husband and I spent two nights and three days at the Riverlane and it was wonderful!
We had cabin 15 which had a deck looking out to very lush scenery. Our room was a studio equipped with a small kitchen nette which was very adequate for us. We shopped at the Safeway just down the street and cooked all of our meals in the kitchen. The room was very clean and our showers were hot! The room had a skylight. We were a stones throw from the river! We rented a canoe for a few hours and took some nice walks in the area. I highly recommend this very inexpensive, comfortable and relaxing getaway! We're looking forward to going there again next year!

We stayed in Cabin #6 and as other reviewer this was spacious. The place is clean but remember it is old - this is not the Wynn in Las Vegas! You stay at this place so that you are next to outdoor adventure and within walking distance of restaurants, etc. We went to the Beer Festival and rode our bikes (3 minute ride). It was nice and quiet which is what we wanted. Shower has lots of water pressure! You can walk to the beach (a couple 100 feet?). We had friends over for dinner and the full kitchen with BBQ and deck made it great. You are right in town. Bed is a little soft, and you might want to ask for extra pillows or bring your own. We will be going back!!!

We were greeted by a friendly guy PJ. From there on the resort went downhill. We were escorted to a cabin (15) which reeked of cigarettes. The flooring had a film on it that was so disconcerting that we left our feet covered (socks & shoes). Cob webs in each of the corners of the room with dirty drinking glasses. Very dated and not clean. We took our changes sleeping on a mattress, and thought Lucy & Ethel were going to walk in any minute. For the cost of $95.00 per night, I would expect clean. Definately not recommend.
