Wonderful place for a Staycation or family vacation! First, I was in the two-bedroom family cottage, which included two full bathrooms and two decks. I switched over to a one bedroom, which was decorated in a bird theme. I loved it, as my son is an avid birder! This cottage also had a sink and refrigerator. The best place about the Fern Grove Cottages is the flowers, which are extremely well tended. The dahlias are glorious and abundant, with numerous hydrangeas and roses sprinkled into the mix. The breakfast each morning was a wonderful way to start the day, and the proprietor, Jenny, was always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast consisted of some kind of homemade croissant or scone, granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, and it was fresh and inviting. Guests can eat on a lovely patio with tables cut from redwood slabs. Did I forget to mention the redwoods? They are abundant as a backdrop to the exceedingly clean and well-maintained cottages. Another plus for Fern Grove is the location, which is within walking distance to the town and numerous restaurants and shops. The swimming pool holds steadily at 80 degrees, and I enjoyed floating on my raft in it. Also, rooms are available for dogs. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it highly to people wanting a perfect spot for a family vacation by the Russian River.

Room tip: I can't imagine that there would be any bad rooms.

Tucked in Redwoods off the main road in Guerneville. Our cabin had sitting room and bedroom, on an earlier visit we had bedroom and had hot tub/spa room, The grounds are covered in lush flower, and huge ferns.
Breakfast is served from 8:30-10:30 AM
Has bikes to use, medium courtyard and fire pit

We've been to Ferngrove before and visited them again recently. In the intervening period, they have changed hands and there have been some upgrades. I would give them a solid 5 except for one significant issues. They do not begin serving breakfast (which is delicious) until 8:30. This is a problem for 2 reasons - for those who want to get a jump on the day, it means you don't get out of there until well after 9 which is pretty late (and you've paid for the breakfast). Second, while coffee is out, some in our group were just plain hungry before 8am and had to go to a local cafe. This may be very convenient for the owners (and as I said the breakfast is delicious), but in the hospitality business you need to be on the same schedule as your guests.

The cottages are clean, comfortable, and create the perfect getaway. This place gives the illusion that you have escaped to the woods, white still being conveniently close to town and walking distance to restaurants. The pool lounge was the ideal place to wind down after a long day in the sun at the river. We couldn't ask for a better stay and can't wait to return!
