We stayed here last year and had such a great time we decided to book it again. This year was just as great. They even let our kids and wife check in early and use the pool while I went and did some pre race packet pick up etc (was in town for a triathlon).

The rooms are clean and cozy. The smores at 8 around the firepit are a hit. The grounds are kept clean. Just a great place to escape away from it.

I'm laying in an itty bitty bed with my 6'5" husband at 6am listening to traffic whizzing by our Cabin as I write this. Having gone to bed at 11p (arrived late & wanted for sure to participate in the fun, nightly S'mores!), I am not looking forward to the very groggy day ahead!

Beings that our cabin is literally 15' from a very busy Rd, the semi-trucks that began rolling by continuously at 5:30am actually shook the entire place!!

From what I read & saw on their website, I was expecting spacious Cabins with many amenities - equipped to accommodate pets. The whole point of selecting this location was to avoid the normal, giant haul of 'stuff' Camping would entail!

We arrived at 8pm & our room was so warm & stuffy, we had to open every single window & it took 2 hrs to get the 60' outside air to circulate through & cool it off - with no AC & the owners relying on 2 fans for comfort?

Our dog was overheating & needing water - but, no water or food bowls were provided - for her or us! I guess I'm wrong, but I thought their site boasted of kitchens?

A microwave, sink & mini-fridge with no utensils or way to eat? Not a kitchen.

Want to hit the pool? Bring your own towels - or use their shower ones, I guess.

At $250/night, noisy & lacking much comforts of home - I wouldn't recommend it!

Breakfast was simple - doughnuts & bagels with whole fruit, yogurt, milk & tea. Did the trick. Staff was friendly & it's located very close to town. My favorite part was the Family atmosphere among the guests.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side of the complex from the River...to avoid being right at the Road...

Since the price was so reasonable, we were not expecting the place to be so charming and appealing. We had reserved a studio, but because of some problem in that unit, were upgraded to a 2 bedroom cottage. It was very unseasonably hot and there was a ceiling fan in the living room and a floor fan in each bedroom, which were really necessary. The rooms are clean, well appointed and nicely decorated. The grounds are beautiful with lots of greenery and flowers. And the swimming pool was a blessed relief. The continental breakfast was generous and the staff were friendly and helpful. For those who are sensitive to noise, request a room away from the River Road side as there is traffic noise. All in all a good value. I will return.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms away from the pool and on the side opposite River Road.

I stayed in a studio queen with my doggie on one of the hottest days of the year, and was quite comfortable even though there is no AC. Every cottage is outfitted with a ceiling fan, which is perfectly fine in normal weather. Even though I was traveling with my dog, I was skeptical about staying in "pet friendly" lodging for fear of the level of comfort & cleanliness. Once I walked in the entrance, I knew my worries were unwarranted. The cottages are a lovely oasis on River Road in the heart of the Russian River valley, yet once you enter the oasis you forget the busy road outside. The property has beautifully maintained gardens, even in the pet area. I would return and recommend this property to friends.

From the minute that you walk into the front office upon check-in, you can sense the elegant atmosphere of Cottages on River Road. The staff are refreshingly friendly and genuine. Though easily accessible off of the main road in Guerneville, these charming and discrete cottages are tucked away on River Road. The grounds are lovingly landscaped, with a walking path around the perimeter. A waterfall at the far end of the landscape draws you over with the calming sound. There is a nice big pool, with comfy lounging chairs and nice big towels. The highlight for my 8-year old was the fire pit, where guests gather in the evening to socialize and roast marshmallows to make smores. The colors of the cottages, the decor and design are reminiscent of the coast. Our cottage was a spacious 2-bedroom with a generous furnished patio. The linens were fresh and comfortable. The beds were soothing. The kitchenette comes in handy for preparing kid snacks and drinks. The continental breakfast that is offered was just right before heading out for the day. The grounds are gated with multiple gates conveniently located near the cottages. Parking is easy. You could easily spend a couple of days at the Cottages on River Road and feel like you don't want to leave the grounds. It is quite a pampering feeling. The front office has movies you can check-out as well as books to read. For guests traveling with pets, there is a designated doggie area on the grounds. Oh, yes, and the cucumber shower gel was wonderful! It appears that property upgrades are in process to add on even more guest features. The Cottages is located near many of the nearby attractions - river access, mini-golf, main street, Safeway. This is a family and pet friendly property, it would make for a cute couple's retreat as well.

Really nice place with helpful staff. The cottages give you excellent privacy. Our room was well cleaned. Price is a good value relative to the quality of the rooms. Location when considering activities is superb. Lots of excellent local dining, including Michelin starred Farmhouse Inn in Forestville. Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is less than 10 minutes away. The California coast is a half hour West. Healdsburg is a half hour Northeast. You are right in the middle of the Russian River wine district. Redwoods, a scenic ocean coast and wine country surrounds this inn. The only major negative is the proximity to the highway which tends to make the place noisy.

The evening campfires make this place stand out. It is a nice way to meet fellow travelers. The sheets were unbelievable. They were so fresh and good quality. Unexpected treat. Breakfast was sufficient and they are working on a breakfast room as now you get in a line to toast your bagel. A little awkward as everything is on little tables and you need a little prep space to get the butter/cream cheese on the bagel. They are improving this soon.

Room Tip: They have a pool. This is one of the nicest places to stay in the area if you are planning on visit...
