“FILTHY HOUSES HORRIBLE CUSTOMR SERVICE”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

We stayed at the Moonstar House sleeps 4 at $316.00 a night. YEAH!! $316.00 no kidding. We were disgusted when we saw the Pet Urine Stained carpets, 6" holes in the bedding quilts and bed pillows stained so yellow they should/ve been thrown out. When we reported it to the management office they gave us replacement bedding to change ourselves. It was Easter Week so no way we could find accommodations anywhere else. We brought steaks to BBQ however the grill was so nasty and degraded it was unusable. The ceilings were water stained and the whole house smelled like mold. The management office said the last renter had complained about the urine stains on the carpet also!!!!! (they did not get the message and clean it???) STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE TO SAVE YOURSELVES A HEARTBREAKING EXPERIENCE. We talked to the manager JIM who said they have reported to the owner the problems with the Moonstar house and still waiting to hear from homeowner. He said would issue a credit around the 15th of the month when they settled with the owner. All we got was a 3 for the price of 2 coupon... Are you kidding!!! WE WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN EVEN IF THEY PAID US..... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. STAY AWAY!!!

Room Tip: Stay Away from this place

Beautiful rustic cabins on a cliff with a private hot tub that is shared, but private when in use. The hot tub is nestled on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a private gate. The cabin we stayed in is retro decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable. Fireplace heated the cabin and wood is stacked and ready to use at your cabin. Our experience here was exceptional.

This area has a lovely energy and the beaches are beautiful. We are going back soon and staying in the same cabin.

Really nice to be away from "hotel stock"!!

Two great grocery stores in Gualala and one that carries organic food. Point Arena has a holistic store that carries supplements. I cannot remember the name, but went to the little mart in town and they sent me to her place. I was looking for digestion enzymes and she had the refrigerated kind. Sweet french bakery in town too. No reason for anyone to be dissatisfied!

Room Tip: Looked at all cabins and they were all nice! Well equipped!!

These are rustic old cabins, so don't expect fluffy down comforters or other high-end hotel amenities. We stayed in cabin 5, which was plenty big for two. It has a small living room with a couch by the fire, a small kitchen with a full stove and small fridge, & a small bedroom and bath. I was concerned about cleanliness and things being run-down after having read other reviews. It's not super polished clean, but by no means dirty. It's old and well-worn. The sheets and towels have seen better days. The kitchen is roughly furnished with pots, pans, etc., but you may need to improvise. The bed is not super comfy, but not horrible. But, you are paying $100 a night for a full cabin right on the water. It is secluded and beautiful country. I really enjoyed it.

this is the worst place ever, don't waste your time. the cabins are old and yucky, furnished with old junk furniture, the bed was the worst, it sagged almost to the floor, the owner is a grumpy old man who kept staring at my boobs gross. the hot tub looked pretty dirty so we didnt go in it.

Room Tip: old nasty beds and old nasty owner he kept staring at my boobs, gross

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Moonstar Cottage this week, and we loved it. No one was in the adjacent Moonstar House, so it was very quiet and perfect for relaxing. The deck is perched about 150 feet over a cove, with a perfect view. The 1-bedroom cottage is clean, well equipped, and very comfortable. The exterior could use some cosmetic work, but there were no problems at all. The house is situated far enough away from Gualala and Anchor Bay that the night sky has almost no light pollution, so nights on the deck were beautiful. The property is large, with a fun path through the woods. Only drawback was beach access, which required a short drive toward Gualala.

We have stayed at Serenisea Vacation homes several times. Magic House, Beach House, Vista Del Mar, Hawkins House and Saunders Reef to name some. We have not had a bad stay yet. We did check into a cottage on a bluff that the septic tank backed up, but were moved to a nice house with a great view, deck and hot tub with deer in the front yard. So we do some cleaning before we go. Big deal, it helps keep the cost down. For you complainers go up the highway to Sea Ranch for five to six hundred a night and even more. I like these houses. Vista Del Mar overlooks a graveyard. I'll tell you something, those folks didn't bother my children or grandchildren one bit. Beach House was great, Magic House was too, but it's not on the vacation market anymore. Saunders Reef is another nice place. We stayed in another place called Sea Spray, it is not on the market at this time. Now these homes are owned by other folks and managed by Serenisea. Our stay in all of them was very nice. For you complainers, go up the highway. That will leave more time for us who appreciate these homes.

The owner of Serenisea is an incompetent moron! First they got our house wrong when we arrived. The "Hawkins House" they tried to give us was not the quality that we paid for. It smelled like it had been closed up since the 1950's and the furniture was that old too. Even the guest book in the house has several entries that mentioned the same issues. Even worse, 6 of the kitchen drawers and counter tops had rat droppings all over. When we went back to the office to tell them of the mistake and the condition, their reaction was "how big were the droppings so we know what size traps to put out?" Really? at $235/night, we refused to stay there with our kids. We found a last minute house with a different company, but Serenisea would not refund our money. Instead, they put us in a nicer house which was closer to the quality that we thought we originally had booked with them. When we checked out, by the way you have to do the cleaning, dishes, and strip the beds as their fine print states, the owner was in the office. He was a real piece of work. He blamed us for all of the issues and booking mistakes. He defended the condition of the original house even after I showed him the rat pictures. Basically he had no interest in the situation and didn't want to hear it. He was bent that his staff put us in the second house and that he was going to charge us more money after our stay because it was a nicer house. That is exactly what he did. 2 weeks later, without our authorization, he continued to bill our credit card for additional charges/fees. I feel sorry for anyone who would use this company when planning a vacation. I really feel sorry for any home owner who lets this guy manage there property. Thanks Serenisea for screwing our time in Gualala!
