“Private decks and river/ocean views.”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

This is a reasonably priced place to stay where all rooms face the ocean and have private decks. The seagulls will share the railings with you. We have stayed there many times and our rooms are always interesting and comfortable. The rooms are decorated as various states in the USA. Each room has a fireplace with a Presto log supplied each day. Some of the beds are quite high, if that causes a problem, you will need to let them know. Our favorite room is the "Pennsylvania" room which has a low bed and is level coming in from the parking lot. That room also has a spa in the tub and the bathroom and shower are accessible. The bathroom is not new but very large. The Inn is built in three levels with decks set back on each level. If you stay at Breakers Inn, a fine place to dine is St. Orres, which is about five miles north of town. It's quite expensive, but a lovely place to be for a special dinner. My only problem is that AT&T cell phones will not work on that area of the coast, but there are phones in the rooms and if you drive a few miles north you can probably use your phone. We have eaten at the Gualala (pronounced Walala by the natives)
Inn, but it was closed when we were recently on the coast in late August 2013. Breakers Inn does not provide breakfast but provides coffee in the rooms. There is a restaurant on the premises which I have not tried.

Room Tip: Almost all the rooms have decks and ocean views. There are just a few rooms (less expensive) without...

Stayed for one night and we felt it was worth every penny. Our room was on the second floor and had a nice patio. We were able to watch the sunset on the ocean. The room also had a jacuzzi tub and a fire place. Had a great night and would recommend for anyone traveling Highway 1 on the coast.

Room Tip: Ask for an oceanview room.

What a beautiful place to stay. With a beautiful view of the Gualala river running into the ocean, and the sound of the breakers pounding the sandy peninsula all night. Balcony with lounges, inside sitting area with fireplace, heated floors, spa in each room, some overlooking the water. Each room decorated in slightly different style. Cape cod look. Love it there. Recommend dinning across the street at the historic Gualala hotel. Entrance to the public park just a block down the highway where you can walk out to the peninsula you view from your room and the ocean beach, beware of the confluence of the river into the ocean at the end of the peninsula. Just a peaceful place to be.

We have stayed here before and loved it, but this time we ran into a few things that put us off. We initially stayed in the Connecticut room and although the view and room were very nice, we a bit grossed out by the very dirty grout in the bathroom floor. Also after staying there one night, we kept finding a puddle near the toilet. They found the leak at the bottom of the tank and offered to move us for the second night. This was great customer service. We were moved into the England room, a larger and more expensive room at the lower rear of the hotel. So far, so good until we found we had neither phone signal nor WiFi connectivity in the room. We asked about it and they swore the WiFi "kicks in and out down there". Well, I am here to tell you it does not kick in EVER! I would not have cared if I had phone service, but it was annoying to be completely cut off especially since they tout free WiFi as an amenity. So in the larger downstairs rooms, do not expect WiFi no matter what they say. Additionally, their new restaurant where they serve breakfast on weekends does not open until 9 am a bit late if you want to be out and about during the morning or need to get an early start on the road.

We stopped at this wonderful hotel during a road trip along the highway 1. We got the room oregon upstairs and enjoyed a wonderful sunset from our private ocean front balcony drinking a wonderful merlot purchased in napa-valley. The view from the room was really really amazing. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean with whirlpool and fireplace and two excellent leather armchairs. The wi-fi has worked well. We slept very well and the breakfast, served in the lobby because the shoreline restaurant was closed, was standard with muffins, toast, milk, coffee, cereals etc.. We would definately recommend this hotel and will return as soon as possible.

How lucky were we to be guests at this fantastic Inn. Breakers Inn In Gualala was absolutely wonderful. The views from the rooms are amazing. Waking up and listening to the waves break on the beach was so relaxing. The rooms here are spacious, with a private balcony, fireplaces In the rooms, spabaths and each room is themed. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Already can't wait to come back.

My husband and I stopped here along our road trip on Highway 1. We checked out other places but this turned out to be just what we were looking for. The manager, Jim, was very accommodating. We had the California room. Each room has a country or state with a decor to match. Our room had a two sided fireplace and a whirlpool next to a two sided view of the ocean with a balcony. All amenities were top notch. Wine glasses, etc. Super large room that was incredibly clean everywhere. A memorable stay!
