“Over Priced and Poor Quality / Taste”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Had seen Doughboy's from the street many times while we have been in town, finally decided to try them one night. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant is a little small inside, the prices
are a bit higher then we expected for "pizza", and the overall quality and taste was below what
we expected. There are several other Pizza Places in the area, that are much better tasting and
priced, was disappointed with our experience.

“Gluten Free Pizza”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2011

For all you folks intolerant or allergic to wheat or gluten, this is the first pizza shop (in California) to offer gluten-free pizza, on a regular basis. Been here 3 times this past summer and always order a GF pizza, so this is the only item on the menu I've had. Each time I order a different sauce and toppings. All pretty tasty too. Edges should be golden brown and crunchy to ensure pie is cooked thru center. Service does seem exceptionally slow at times, and the owner can often been seen running the show on a busy weekend. Limited biz hours means it is open for dinner. If you are craving pizza, and are limited by gluten free choices, I do recommend you try this place. I still haven't mastered the home-made gluten-free pizza dough-mixes from scratch, even after full one year and 10 different brands, so I'm glad to see this biz offering this unique pizza pie!

“Big problems with service!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2011

Arrived at Doughboy's on a Saturday afternoon at 1:30. Only person in the place was a guy sleeping in the dining area who turned out to be our waiter/cook. We didn't really mind the fact that we had to wake him up. It was, infact, a little amusing, and we were quite happy to be the only ones in a place that has such great reviews. The waiter/cook guy was nice but seemed to have difficulty taking our order (came back 3 times to confirm our order for 2 pizzas w/hotwings, 3 pitchers of soda and kept repeating the wrong order - "You ordered one slice with a salad?" Not sure what he was thinking as there were 12 people in our group!), cooking (1 hour and no food to be seen - did I mention we were the only ones in the place?), and serving (hands shaking, dropped plastic cups all over the place, only had 2 plastic pitchers available for our soda, and we had to serve our own drinks from the fountain behind the counter). Ultimately, after 1 hour, waiter/cook guy comes out from the kitchen for the 3rd time and asks for our order again! My husband looked in the kitchen window and saw that he was just starting to throw the dough and no finished pizzas or wings in sight!! Not sure what he was doing for the last hour. After cancelling our order and receiving a few choice 4-letter words from him, we ended up going across the street to Orcutt Burger and had everyone fed and happy in less than 40 minutes. On our way to Round Table Pizza for dinner later that night (still craving pizza but no time to mess around with a long wait and Mr. Crazy) we passed Doughboy's -- restaurant completely empty with same waiter/cook guy sitting on the curb across the parking lot, talking on his phone and looking half asleep. Tip for management: Fire the one guy you have running the place. He's bad for business. Or, install a hidden camera. You might get some good footage for TV!

“Great Pizza”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2009

We go there every year when were in town. Service is friendly and the pizza is good. They have a supersize pizza that will feed a small town.
