“Mediocre at best”

Skirt steak tough, Chicken Jerusalem mediocre. Fish and chips OK. The food is nothing to write home about. Service quite good though. They serve wine in old-fashioned small wine glasses (gag). Don't recommend. Lots of room to improve. Probably a great place for the residents to gather and drink and drink and...

“Much improvement, but still room to improve.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

We had not eaten at the club restaurant for a couple of years since the food was average at best and the service was far below par.

What a change! The food was well prepared and served hot, and will be described below.

The service could be vastly improved, and this could clearly be easily done. While we were there the wait staff did all of the table bussing and clean up. This meant they had precious little time to spend waiting on customers. We saw absolutely NO bus boys, and we stayed relatively late into the evening. This attempt to go 'cheap' does a disservice to the wait staff who were clearly being asked to do too much with too little staff.

The food was varied and mostly well prepared. One cheese burger was over cooked on one side and was far more well done than the 'medium' that had been ordered. The small sirloin steak was perfectly prepared, as well as the accompanying side dishes. The salads and soup were excellent and served appropriately early. I had the shepherds pie which was overly salty but otherwise very good. The braised, boneless short ribs in gravy, were wonderful with just the right amount of seasoning. They also have a beer battered fried shrimp appetizer at the bar that is coated with a pepper sauce and mayo glaze that is outstanding. Lastly, they served up an outstanding dessert consisting of a large brownie, covered by crumbled Oreo cookies, topped by a generous amount of ice cream and surrounded by a heaping mound of whipped cream. An absolutely divine way of ending a meal. We attacked it with six spoons, and it was still enough for the entire party.

Would love to give this place five stars, but the service still has a way to go to deserve anything more.

“Thanksgiving let down.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

I was hoping to wow my guests with an outrages dinner. Sadly the food was just ok for that price. The staff was very forward. Not much time to relax and enjoy a conversation. Was rushed and annoyed. The town of Groveland had a better spread, nicer staff and the dinner was either free or a donation. :) next year town of Groveland.

“Great Appetizers and Strong Drinks!”

What's a girl to do? If they are making their special Bloody Mary’s, I highly recommend getting one… otherwise ask for their Salty Caramel Stoli’s with Hot Apple Cider. It will keep you warm during the cold winter months! The Staff is friendly and very accommodating! If you have a special event, they can handle it quite nicely.

“Get over yourselves!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

Let me first start off by saying I am a local. My family decided to take my mother out for her birthday somewhere other then mex rex. The date was 11/19/13. Lets just say we should have gone there. The night started out wrong at the host stand. We arrived and no one was there. At first we thought they were closed. 10 min later when someone finally realized we were there she came over with a co worker. She looked a bit confussed and flustered when we told her party for four. They ended up putting us at a table in the corner even though the entire dinning room was empty, aside from a few retired folks. The forks were unpollished and table sticky. We ordered drinks from her they came out fine. Then we were neglected. The tables didnt have sugar on them for ice tea and it was impossible to find a staff member to bring us some. I ended up having to get it myself from a table across the room.
We then ordered
Chimmychurry steak
Salmon
And ribeye
The salmon was very dry and meat was nothing to get excited about. My mom dropped her fork and we had to get another one from another table due to lack of service. The only good thing was the baked potato.
We actually saw a greesey chef walk through the dinning room to the bar more then we saw our server. When dessert finally came it was missing forks. She gave us our food then walked away not even giving us time to ask for a fork. Yet another thing we had to do for ourselves. Lets just say overall a great dissapointment from someplace thats supposed to be a country club.
