We saw the Hotel Charlotte on this website when looking for somewhere to be able to eat on Easter Sunday, having found out that the hotel we were staying in did not supply Easter Sunday dinner. Looking at the Hotel website and viewing the menu for Easter Sunday it looked rather promising and decided to book a table.
From the start it seemed quite promising. We arrived to a friendly reception and just waited to be shown to our table. Again a friendly reception from our waitress. We gave our order and no problems. However we then over heard another waitress greeting one of her tables and was advising them of specials available for the evening in addition to the set menu - um... what specials we asked ourselves - as we'd not been told of them?! Anyhow - too late really now as our orders had already gone in. Food was OK - not exquisite but then not the worst I've tasted. My husband and I chose the lobster - thinking that as we'd tried it on our honeymoon and it wasn't too much more we'd try it again. Bad choice - the lobster was chewy - whether it hadn't been cooked long enough or whether they were bad catches we don't know, but 2 others in our party had the halibut which was also a bit chewy.
Finally came dessert - which should have been the Chocolate Creme Brulee - which was actually the selling point on the menu when browsing previously on the internet. However they'd apparently run out by the time we'd got to that point - but we were offered other desserts in its place, so 'c'est la vie'. Or at least this would've been the case if it wasn't for the fact that 10 minutes after we'd been told they'd run out another waitress offered the Creme Brulee to 2 other tables (along with the other options), one of whom actually ordered and received a chocolate creme brulee!!! Maybe we weren't offered it because they were worried that they didn't have 5 left for everyone, but then we should've been told that and then we could've decided amongst ourselves who had the remaining brulees and who chose alternative desserts.
Funnily enough after this our waitress dropped our cheque and then dissappeared until we left when we got a rather sheepish goodbye.
I'm afraid I won't be reccommending this restaurent to anyone I know who might be stopping in Groveland - although there is a rather nice Mexican nearby - but just be careful of the large portions!

A small group of us ate dinner here to celebrate a surprise engagement after spending a day in Yosemite. Atmosphere was almost perfect for us, not so fancy that you feel uncomfortable. Recommended for couples or families with well behaved kids. Friendly service and good food, we really enjoyed ourselves!

Lynn and Victor have made the Charlotte, "the" place to go in Groveland. Victor's food is excellent and Lynn makes the evening fun.

Food is very good - but not great. Service is fast, great, friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Make a reservation on weekends!

If you are traveling through Groveland the best place to eat is the Charlotte. The food is excellent and so is the service. The prices are also excellent. The staff is so friendly they make you feel like your at home. We have tried all the other restaurants in Groveland and the Charlotte is the best.
