“An Unexpected Pleasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

Our visit to Yosemite included staying in Groveland, a small town an hour outside of the park. Charlotte's small plates were delicious. The buckwheat noodle salad with eggplant and mango
And the melon and tomato salad are highly recommended. You can't go wrong eating at Charlotte's!

“Foodies, rejoice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

Finally some really tasty eats in Groveland. And Penny, our waitress, was perfect in every way, efficient, friendly, back often enough but not too often. We had: butternut bisque w/ cardamom - very nice flavor combo; honey spiked chicken (battered and deep fried breast strips) w/Asian slaw - chicken very tasty with its - ?? marmalade ?? - accompaniment; Asian slaw perfect and very spicy w/ Thai chilies; smoked salmon (mousse) hard boiled eggs, yummy; braised veggies and a few beans w/ pork broth, excellent. Probably could get the veggies w/out meat for a first rate vegan dish, maybe. Drinks: Not a lot of non-alc to choose from, no champagne by the glass or split. Had the house mango margarita with habanero house infused tequila. Not my fave margarita, but, certainly effective. Dessert: Bourbon pecan pie and a very good vanilla ice cream. the cheesecake looked really good with maybe marinated dark cherries?? The place was jumping, a happening bar and the owner or manager is really friendly, funny and aiming to please. The chef happens to be Penny's son, and he looks like Elijah Wood. Prices are reasonable for this distance from the Bay area and this very high level of cuisine for good ol' Groveland. We will definitely return each year and if you are spoiled rotten on great food, you should, too.

“Finally, a place for foodies and drinkers near Yosemite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

We've been coming to Groveland/Pine Mountain Lake/Yosemite since 2008 and our biggest complaint has always been there's no place that serves excellent, creative food and drink. Well, that complaint has been answered. The nice people that are running the hotel and bistro have a flair for creating a San Francisco experience in this small town. The menu is mostly small plates (although there is nothing small about their portions). We tried the spaghetti, the pulled-pork tamale, the caesar salad, the honey chicken sticks and they were all excellent. I have to mention the red beet humus with dried cucumbers. That is amazing. The beers on tap are excellent, from Dust Bowl Brewery in Turlock ("brewed, bottle and cursed" in Turlock). The drinks as created by Brother-in-law Will, are fantastic.

We will be back and anyone passing (or staying) in Groveland, should stop and enjoy the "new" old Charlotte.

“Slice of Heaven in Groveland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

while staying at a cabin in Pine Mountain Lake we decided to venture out for a meal. we happened onto a newly renovated hotel/restaurant with amazing charm. We talked to the new owners and peeked at the new menu. that night we came back for dinner. we sat on the balcony and soaked in the sunset and historic Groveland. The food was truly amazing; local, organic and unique. They offered wine from local vintners. It was a perfect evening. who knew such a gourmet restaurant existed near Yosemite. The new owners, a lovely young couple, are great.
