“Be careful, if you speak with an accent”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

Food was okay. Be careful, with the wait staff. The waitress named Amy will add the tip, even for only four people, if you speak with an accent. And then she will have all excuses, system down, printer not working. I guess she thinks people with accents don’t tip the 15-20%.

Good Afternoon Andre L - I am very sorry about your recent experience at our restaurant. Our policy is to add an 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more as is the industry standard. I apologize if a mistake was made and a gratuity was added to your party of four, this should have never happened. Please know that I have already spoken to the server about this occurrence to ensure nothing like this will happen again. We do hope you join us again and I would be more than happy to extend a $50 gift certificate for your next visit. Thank you, Jenn Edwards

“Has got potential”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

The menu was very creative and the new chef has great ideas. However s/he needs to watch the seasoning because all our dishes were over-seasoned (too salty and peppery). Just a little correction will make a huge difference. Definitely has potential and we would go there again.

“Lovely place, good food, nice owners”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

We ate at Charlotte Bistro and had a really great experience. The new owners took over the place about 3 months ago, and have really filled a much-needed niche of interesting, quality food
in the Groveland area.

Food was very good. The menu had different, interesting items on it.

The owners/staff could not have been nicer. We really hope the place is a success for them.

Would definitely go again.

“Cubby Dougie and wife, Jenn, may have struck GOLD!”
Reviewed May 19, 2012 via mobile

Leaving San Francisco after work, how close to Yosemite can one get before sunset and hunger kick in? The answer - Groveland! A charming gold rush era hamlet tucked inside the Sierra foothills just outside of Yosemite National Park.

We checked-in to the Hotel Charlotte with time to spare for dining in the Bistro & Bar located on the main floor. We were immediately greeted by the fabulous Amy and seated next to the window facing main street. Cocktails ordered and served, she ran down the menu and shared her favorites, along with 2 specials not on the menu. All food is sourced within 50 miles.

Scooter ordered the pineapple tamales with BBQ pulled pork and red mole sauce as our first course. KILLER DELISH! (There is also a vegetarian version but what's the point?) Then came our entrees. I had the lamb chop served on a bed of cheesy risotto and topped with roasted baby carrots, all cooked to perfection. Scooter had one of the specials - duck breast on polenta with roasted baby parsnips - truly wonderful. All paired with a local Grenache from Frog Tooth that complemented our meal perfectly.

Not quite fully satisfied, we followed up with a cheese course of 4 local cheeses, biscotti, walnuts and an apple honey pave. YUUUH UHMMMMMM! And of course, no meal in our household is complete without dessert. You have to try the upside down cheesecake flan - light, fluffy and out of this world. For the chocolate fans - the frozen rice krispies chocolate bar with ovaltine and fresh berries does not disappoint!

During our dessert, "cubby" Dougie (proprietor and CCA-trained chef) came to our table to chat. He brought out another wine, Naughty Bawdy, that paired perfectly with our dessert selections. He was a kick to chat and his passion for food was obvious. (He's easy on the eyes for both you women and men.)

Don't miss this locavore gem and they are extremely gay-friendly. "We love the bears! We love the bikers!"
