We recently stayed in the 'Meadowlark' cabin at Sunset Inn and really enjoyed ourselves. We found the cabin clean, warm, and well equipped, so we were able to self cater comfortably and relax in the lovely surrounds. We were so pleased we had chosen Sunset Inn when we saw the hustle and bustle of Yosemite with RVs, and big hotel/residential complexes. We thoroughly recommend Sunset Inn, our only note of caution would be that without chains you can find it difficult to get down into the Yosemite Valley once snow starts to fall.

Room Tip: Meadowlark has the nicest view out of the three cabins available at Sunset Inn

The Sunset cabins are a wonderful option for people seeking peace and quiet away from the crowds of Yosemite. They are only a few miles west of the park on Rte 120, and easy to access. The accommodations are quite nice with very usable kitchens. The beds are comfortable and the covered porches perfect for an evening chat. We stayed in Meadow Lark cabin for two nights in October 2011 and felt it would be perfect for a family with 2 or 3 kids.

Room Tip: Meadow Lark is the biggest cabin and a good choice if traveling as 3 adults or with 2-3 children.

Although our stay was a while back (May 2011) I have gone back many times in my mind. The location was perfect. It was very peaceful- just far enough removed, but , also convenient to the park. The weather wasn't as cooperative as we may have liked, but we didn't seem to mind. Being there was so rejuvenating! The hosts were extremely knowledgeable about the area, and very helpful. Lauren was even kind enough to make a beautiful and delicious birthday cake for Tom. The cabin was very cozy and had everything we needed to be comfortable. My only regret was that we weren't able to stay longer! Definitely on my list of places to revisit! Lisa and Tom

We stayed in the Meadow Lark cabin for 5 nights and it was definately the highlight of our 3 week holiday. The cabin itself has a comfy double bed in the bedroom come kitchen and then another bedroom with 2 single beds, a lovely porch and a really private feel to it. The standard of cleanliness is very high and the owners couldn't be more helpful if you needed them, otherwise they left you to enjoy the peace and tranquility of their "Little piece of paradise."

It is perfectly situated just 2 minutes drive from the entrance to Yosemite on the 120 and inspiration point is less than 15 minutes drive and the valley floor only about 20. So Yosemite really is on your doorstep.

There is a creek no more than 5 minutes drive from the cabin (outside the park) which after a short walk you can find a place to swim with nobody else around which was a lovely place to spend time just chillin (The water is so refreshing.)

If you decide to stay here (and you really should.) I would suggest picking up groceries in Groveland (about 20-25minutes) on your way through as other than a gas station there is no where else to stock up.

Would love to come back someday.

Room Tip: Meadow Lark was perfect for a family of 4 (2 young teenage boys)

We stayed in the meadow lark family cabin for 4 nights in August 2011. It is a fabulously peaceful and beautiful place with lots of rustic charm but still quite comfortable with all the main facilities you need. Lauren and Bill are very friendly and happy to help or advise about anything. It takes about 50 minutes to drive from here to Yosemite village (where the centre of all the activities are) but it's only about 5 minutes drive to the park gates, so unless you're lucky enough to get a place to stay inside the park boundary Sunset Inn is pretty well placed. I would definitely stay here again if we ever came back to Yosemite.

We stayed at the Sunset Inn for three nights while visiting Yosemite National Park. The Sunset Inn provided us with a relaxing retreat for tired feet after hiking in the park. The Sugar Pine Cabin was a perfect size for a couple and it was decorated to match the rustic feel of the area. Lauren was very kind and helpful during our stay and even provided us with fresh eggs from her chickens! We would recommend the Sunset Inn to friends and family.
