“Great quality in a remote location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

I recently enjoyed a three night stay at Evergreen Lodge. The menu is beautiful and I did not hesitate to eat here. I was hoping the food would be as good as described. First night in the restaurant was excellent. I ordered the Smoked Duck breast which was perfectly cooked to my liking (medium rare). In my educated culinary opinion (CIA grad 1985), the duck was smoked too long and was way too salty. And I'm not a salt hater. Sorry Cheffy. But still, the dinner was great! Excellent vegetable and starch! Shared a salad with my dining companion and avoided the $3 split plate charge by using our bread plates. Plenty for two.
Excellent wine and service that night with great Ice Cream at the end. Simple!
Second night was a BBQ dinner buffet for our group. Great food again! Only suggestion would be to have identifying cards next to the food we were eating. It was not all recognizable.
Third night was a reception dinner, outdoors for approx. 140 people. Had the Filet Mignon which was great. Perfectly cooked veg and potato. The only problem is that there were only one or two runners bringing the food out and only one person serving. One person cannot effectively serve 140 people. Waters were never re-filled, bread not replenished, and dirty plates left on the tables for at least an hour after we were done eating. No servers to be seen. If I were paying for this I would have been pissed off and in the kitchen rounding up the service staff. BTW...The Evergreen Lodge is not cheap. Overall, excellent food for a banquet.

One more thing....Thank you Chef for sending the food out on hot plates! Every meal. This is usually overlooked these days.

“Great dining experience in the middle of a National Forrest? Who knew.”

Great carrot ginger soup & the veggie burger, which is made in house, is incredible. French fries with truffle oil? What an unexpected treat.

“No need to rough it in Yosemite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

Everything was well seasoned and well prepared. Great breakfasts! Dinner's were good too but a little on the pricey side since a side salad is extra, but considering there are not many options, it's to be expected. The salmon was undercooked, but corrected... Ask for bread! Service was a little slow, but very friendly.

“Lunch on the Terrace”

Good lunch food. Try the pulled pork if it is available. Servers were there when we wanted them but left us to relax and enjoy the ambiance.

“Neat little tucked away gem”

cool cabin grounds- there is something to do for every member of the family. Children have play areas with sand box and wood tee pees. There is a game room that had a pool table or foosball, but the bar definitely had a pool table. A beautiful swimming pool and hot tub with a pool bar!!!
