Description: We invite you to step back in time to enjoy the charming atmosphere of this historical site and to partake in the English tradition of taking tea. Dori's Tea Cottage opened in May 2008 to continue this fine tea tradition and to expand on Dori's life-long love of tea. In 2012, Dori's expanded into the adjacent space that is now Dori's Cafe, which was Groveland's former U.S. Post Office. The Cafe features espresso, gelato, smoothies, fresh brewed iced teas, sandwiches, wraps, quiche, soup, salad and a variety of bakery items. We hope you enjoy your visit - whether you enjoy a quick breakfast, join us for our English tea luncheon, or "Build a Picnic" for your trip to Yosemite.

I've passed through Groveland at least 20 times going in and out of Yosemite but never saw any reason to stop there--now there's a great reason! I had a lovely late afternoon Sunday lunch, consisting of a superb ham and artichoke heart quiche and an excellent salad (garnished with candied pecans and fresh blueberries and strawberries), washed down by excellent black currant tea. I hope to have more stops there in the future to try Dori's other specialties. Only one critique, however, which kept it from being a perfect meal: Although I was the only customer in the more formal dining room (as opposed to the sandwich/gelato/espresso up front), the simple meal was very slow. If you are expecting to spend a fair amount of time in a pleasant setting, you'll be perfectly happy--if you need to get back on the road in less than an hour, either get one of the informal cafe offerings or come back when you have more time. A small criticism, and I'll make the time for it next visit!

This is a lovely place to stop in Groveland. Healthy choices for food and wonderful teas. They offer a selection of iced tea, which is refreshing on a summer day. There is a charming outdoor area where you can relax and eat. They offer free internet. Service is great, also they have gelato. Whether you are a local or a tourist this is a great restaurant. I highly recommend stopping here.

Our first visit, we had a splendid time at a top tier tea house. We ordered the Dorothy Special for two at $29.95. It came with a choice of two pots of tea. (There must have been over 50 different teas to choose from!) We were served 16 finger sandwiches (8 different kinds), all quite delicious. There were also 4 different tasty small desserts per person. Everything appeared to have been made in house.
All this was served in a classic British environment, with vintage teacups and silverware, cloth napkins, doilies, a beautiful table cloths, and tasteful decorations. The day was quite warm and this is one of the few businesses in town with adequate air conditioning--we were able to dine in complete comfort.
The tea shop also serves quiche and other items for those with different tastes and appetites. Our choice was the most expensive on the menu, so the restaurant has very reasonable pricing on its menu items.
The service was excellent and we were treated like most honored guests. The proprietors seemed genuinely concerned that we enjoyed our visit and we did.
The restroom was clean and well stocked.
The restaurant fronts highway 120 and there is no parking in front. However, there is plenty of parking in the immediate vicinity. It is located in the very center of town and easy to miss. It is located on the north side of the street at the narrowest section of the road, with two nearby crosswalks. When you see the crosswalks, start looking for a street to turn into to park the car.
The tea shop is located in the back of the building. In the front is a small gift shop selling gourmet products, ice cream and other goodies. If you aren't ready for a meal, you may want to stop in to take something to go.
You will need to take a rest break on the road to Yosemite and this is a good place to stop.
Reservations for the high tea are recommended but not mandatory. We had reservations, showed up early and were well accomodated.

Popped in for a quick bite. Nice laid back feel. Fairly quick service with wholesome food. My wife had the Quiche which she liked with a wonderful apricot tea. I had the chicken salad which was yummy. Will be back
