We had heard about this butterfly experience along with the animal sanctuary. Dave was VERY knowledgeable about the plants and animals indigenous to the area, and of course about every aspect of the butterflies.

Thank Kyle H

We stopped at the animal sanctuary on Osa Mountain and the owner, Mike, highly recommended a stop at his neighbor's Butterfly Paradise. We took a tour with "Big Wave Dave" even though it was raining. Dave has a great operation. He's built it himself and put a lot of thought into everything, from the construction (like a circus tent, with no corner to trap the butterflies) to the ecosystem, balancing the plant health with the caterpillar/butterfly life cycle. He has many types of butterflies and can point out the pupas, eggs, and more. He's just constructed an orchid garden. The medicinal garden is varied and interesting as well. This spot is definitely worth the stop.
