“An impossible place to rate”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

What an experience this was. Five star for atmosphere and friendliness, but it would be difficult to rate the accommodation as more than one star. The place was built in 1928 and clearly has not changed much since then. The rooms were basic and, while the bed linen was clean, there were plenty of cobwebs to decorate the room. The toilets and washouse were on the same floor and were pretty basic, but there was hot water. We had a tremendous time in the bar in the evening talking to the proprietor and the locals, so this was absolutely fantastic. They helped greatly in tracing some long lost rellies in the area. The food was good, basic and wholesome. Yes, visit it, because this small township of 30 people has some interesting and wonderful people, but do not expect luxury! It is an experience Ishall long treasure.

I had to rate it poor as it is, compared to other accomodation I stayed there with our son on a road trip to Airlie Beach in 2 rooms (as it only comes with double, iron beds)
Don't expect a clean modern room but the old timber walls complete with cobwebs, doors which are not really lockable and old toilet/shower off the verandah (no towels or soap provided) and forget about good tv (old with set top box and rabbit ears)
The place dates from 1928 and it shows
The rooms were cheap at $55.-- each and the beds actually quite good!
As an experience it's unbeatable, steaks and beer were good too and the owners a pleasure to know
