“Great Value for the Money”

If you are staying in Grass Valley and want to be within walking distance to the historical downtown strip, at a reasonable price, you can't beat the Courtyard Suites. It's only a 5 minute walk to all the restaurants/bars. They offer a wine/appetizer hour (hubby and I were the only people there and they let us help ourselves to the wine and pour our own.. how often does that ever happen!) and they also had a very decent breakfast in the morning. The room had every amenity you could ask for plus there's a pool, sauna, fitness room. We also had a very big porch attached to our upstairs room which was extremely clean. Don't know how it is on the weekends, but midweek it was very quiet so we got a good night's sleep. I would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.

We stayed in a suite at the Grass Valley Courtyard Suites in Grass Valley. It was extremely clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodated us with everything we requested, from places to eat to directions. The continental breakfast included belgian waffles made by the staff! As much as you could eat and they allowed you to take it to your room if you'd like. The hotel was within walking distance to the downtown area which offer a lot of choices for food whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. I would gladly return again. The only regret was being on the bottom floor, I would ask for upstairs to avoid hearing the noise guests walking around at 7 am.

Room Tip: I would request Upstairs would avoid foot traffic above you.

Prior to my recent retirement, I traveled more than 1.5 million air miles and stayed in a very large variety of hotels and motels. Some were certainly more luxurious, but I don't think any were more fundamentally enjoyable. The room (king, large balcony) was clean, very comfortable, and extremely quiet. We have a small dog, which was openly welcomed. It is also within walking distance of multiple nice restaurants. Perhaps the most impressive characteristic was the outstanding attitude and extreme friendliness of everyone on the staff. You could not ask for it any better. We found this place by chance, but will surely be staying there when we return to Grass Valley.

Room Tip: Ask for a large balcony room with the balcony facing east. That makes for very comfortable sitting i...

We stayed for just one night, but wish it could have been longer. The property was well-kept and the room was spacious and very comfortable. The happy hour and complimentary breakfast added to the perks of staying here. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Our family stays here each time we have gone to Grass Valley. The kids love the pool when it is hot. I have always found this place immaculate, comfortable, and even purchased a Temperpedic mattress for home after sleeping on their comfortable beds! There is great coffee, robes and toiletries in the room for your convience. Breakfast offers a good variety, love the waffles. Late afternoon there is an offering of wine/snacks. They have a small bar where you can purchase a drink. We have also stayed in their lovely suites, where we could cook and relax. Wev'e never had a noise problem and always felt safe there. Very convient, you can walk two blocks to the main part of GV to shop or eat. Staff is helpful when you need them. The cost of the lodging is more than we usually pay, but our family looks forward to staying at Courtyard Suites because of the cleanliness and convience.

Our family of four recently stayed at the GVCS for a quick overnight on our way through the gold country. Since I requested a rollaway in addition to two double beds, I was happy to find a large room with plenty of space for the extra bed. The room was clean (most importantly), although dated. I wouldn't consider our room a "suite" as there was no extra "living space", but it was big enough to hold a lazy boy type rocker, a desk and a table with two chairs. The bathroom area has additional items making it very comfortable for a longer stay such as a microwave, safe, robes, coffee maker, paper towels, small refrigerator, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. I felt the price was pretty high after comparing it to other hotels in the area but it does have a pool and a fitness room. I would suggest checking in early or staying more than one day to enjoy all the amenities. We did eat breakfast at the hotel which included fresh made waffles, cold cereal, fruit, coffee, tea, etc. I would definitely stay here again, I would just plan a little better next time, looking for some coupons or discounts and arriving earlier in the day to fully enjoy the facilities.

We booked a room for two nights at the VERY last minute. Sara took our reservation and was wonderful and very patient with us. We also went ahead and bought the "romance" package and were really happy with that. See the website for exact details, but it included a $50 dinner gift certificate to any local restaurant, gourmet chocolates, and champagne.

The room was nicely furnished and very spacious. The hotel was within easy walking distance of downtown (in two and a half days we made the back and forth walk at least 3 times). Downtown Grass Valley is really nice, although it does pretty much shut down at 6:00pm. Plenty of eateries and lots of festivals throughout the year. We found out, through Sara when we made our reservation, that the night we checked in there was a festival downtown. After we got settled we walked down to check it out and had a great time.

Another great bonus, Courtyard Suites was very pet (dog) friendly. We brought our two, one larger and one smaller, and Courtyard had dog bowls and blankets waiting for them. Such a thoughtful gesture!

Grass Valley is pretty hippie-filled, but I love that kind of vibe in a city.

My only complaint was the check-out desk assistant on Friday morning. She was not very pleasant and definitely seemed like my questions were inconveniencing her. All of the other desk clerks (especially in the evening) were WONDERFUL and very accommodating. I wouldn't be upset if I didn't have to deal with the Friday morning girl again, but the kindness of the other desk clerks made-up for it enough to make me consider coming back.

All-in-all, we can't wait to go back to Grass Valley and will almost definitely stay at Courtyard Suites again.

Room Tip: Ask if a fireplace room is available. If not, ask for an upstairs patio room. They're a little b...
