Our family has been going to the Sunday brunch at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara for 30+ years. We felt the quality has declined over the last three years as the price increased, so we decided to try the Sunday Brunch at the Bacara.
We went with a group of 8 and the consensus was mixed. We enjoyed the ocean front setting and the outdoor part of the buffet. There was outdoor seating as well with a beautiful view.
The restaurant itself was an uninspired space with great unrealized potential. The food was very good but the offerings were not as elegant and varied and as high end as the Biltmore. Still a toss up.
The service was very poor compared to the Biltmore and that made a huge difference to me. The service at the Biltmore and the ambiance of the space and festive hotel lobby at Christmastime completed the special event feeling at brunch. The service at Miro was no different than your local Applebee's, which colored our overall impression negatively. The hotel itself had zero holiday appeal in its decorations which was another disappointment.
Still worth a try for an additional 20 minute drive and a change of scenery.
