The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara
Ranked #2 of 12 Hotels in Goleta
Certificate of Excellence

Bacara Resort is one of those places you discover and wish you'd been to sooner. The entire staff was warm, attentive and helpful. As far as the resort grounds, there are quiet grassy/garden areas with no one around you, one pool area that is quieter and another that is more active and lively as as well as fountains and walkways everywhere you turn. We had dinner on the veranda sitting around a firepit one night - it's a must! It's a quick drive into Santa Barbara as well. Can't say enough great things about Bacara. We also recommend eating at The Hungry cat in town - we had a great meal there. Low key place with amazing food.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the ocean - for obvious reasons....

We were told that this was a fabulous place to stay. It was a bit difficult to walk to and from the room, as the walkways were steep and long. We had a view of the ocean from our toilet, no where else. This was our :"partial view". The room was not fabulous, but had a fireplace. We were comfortable but not at all impressed. The property was quite far out from Santa Barbara, in a suburb near the university.

Room Tip: Plan on spending at least $800 a night for a room with a nice view. $400 buys a toilet view!

I am so sorry to read of your disappointment with your room view. Thanks to your feedback we will look at this category and ensure that we are not misrepresenting room types.
You are correct in your observation that ours is a secluded resort. For many of our guests, that is what makes Bacara so appealing. But, for those guests who like to include other sites in their visit, we are only 15 minutes by car to downtown Santa Barbara.

Thanks again for the feedback and we hope you will consider giving us another try.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Cochran

Service is unparalleled, as is the beauty of the resort. It's romantic, relaxing, great for fitness buffs. I hope to return annually. Wonderful pools, food. The bar in the Lobby area has beautiful views of extended countryside. People are professional yet friendly. Prompt valet service is unique.

Over the past 4 months, I and my family have vacationed three times at Bacara Resort. In each instance, the stay was stellar; the grounds were pristine; the service was excellent; and the food was wonderful.

I have no vested interest in writing this note, other than to applaud the excellence of Bacara. I am in the midst of making my next family reservation there.

My wife and I were celebrating our 25th. wedding anniversary and from the moment we drove in you could not wish for anywhere better.. Service was great from the moment we arrived from the valet serice check in and the ride to our room. We had a suite in the 19th. block on the third floor which overlooked the pool and down to the ocean ... magic.
WE stayed for three nights and for the first time in our travels didn't want to leave the resort at any time. The resort reminded us of our travels through Italy with the units built into the hillside ... to get around if you wish just pick up the phone and a golf cart is at your door to take you anywhere on the grounds. But a short walk past the beautiful pools gets you to what feels like your own private beach ... we ate breakfast in the Bistro overlooking the Pacific ocean what a treat... we also had room service for breakfast on our balcony as well as a simple meal one evening. On our anniversary we ate at the restraunt for dinner as the sun was setting overlooking the pacific very memorable ... food and service was good at all times ... My wife and I have travelled all over the world and stayed at some very nice resorts and hotels but this one moves right to the top of the list .. you will not be dissapointed ..

This resort is barely a 4 star hotel. Service disorganized, buildings too close together so there is no privacy. Bathrooms outdated with cheap fixtures and fittings. Cannot operate the T.V. from the bed, as the controls face in a different direction. Buffet for breakfast was bland & cold with no chef to make waffles, omlettes etc.I can name 5 other 5/6star resorts in Southern California that are 1000 times better than Bacara. Our 'Villa Building' was next to the street, no security, no fencing/hedge, noisy

Room Tip: do not take an est room/suite as it is next to a busy road, and noisy.

I absolutely loved the resort! The grounds are simply beautiful, our rooms gorgeous, and the service was amazing! From the moment we drove up to the resort we felt relaxed the feeling remained all weekend. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs and provided us with suggestions about visiting the surrounding wineries and restaurants. Upon our return after a beautiful day out, we were greeted with live music at the bar. Mark, the guitarist, played every single one of my requests making it an unforgettable night! I will continue to make this out resort of choice when returning to SB county!
