My wife and I arrived at The Bacarra for a nice relaxing time and when greeted by several Bellman asking if they could help us with our luggage we said sure. After pulling our bags out of our trunk one of them said "would you like me to take your leather jacket" and I replied , Yes ! We proceeded to check in and then they took us to our Room with another Bellman and upon arriving at the room he stated " I didn't see that jacket let me go look for it " and after several minutes he came back and said he couldn't find it and he had notified Security and someone would get back to us .The next morning we were getting ready to check out and had no inquiries from anyone so we asked to talk with Security and filed a report . It has now been a month and all we get when we contact them is that "the bellmen all say that everything from your car was delivered to you room"!!! . They also keep saying that we turned it into our Insurance Company .
My wife and I are very fortunate and have been able to stay in Five Star Resorts all over the world and this is a First for us , usually Customer service is on the Top of the Priority list but not here. My Leather Jacket was a $3,000 Zenga and no one to date has been willing to even talk to us from the Resort Management . VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY . WOW !!!! how sad...

We arrived at 4:15 pm (4 pm is the official check-in time) only to learn that our room was not yet ready. Fortunately, the room was ready at 4:30, but I really feel that a hotel of this caliber should have your room ready at the specified time. We had booked through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts. One of the many benefits of this program is that you are automatically upgraded to the next room category if available. In this case, no upgrades were available but we were given a "village view" room on the third (top) floor of Building 23. After taking a golf cart ride from the lobby with one of the bellmen who assisted with our luggage, we arrived at our room. At first things seemed fine. Charming decor, exposed beams on the ceiling, a comfortably sized balcony with a view of the resort's lush foliage. But then we decided to take a nap and that's where things went downhill. We could hear literally everything going on in the room adjacent to ours. TV, hair dryer, conversation, EVERYTHING! It was almost as if we were all in the same room with the guests next door. Totally unacceptable for that much noise to emanate from one room to the other! Furthermore, our room had an old-school television and no wi-fi. We learned on the golf cart ride that some of the buildings had been renovated with flat-screen TVs, wi-fi and, as we later discovered, soundproofing. Unfortunately, our room was not located in one of the renovated buildings. I immediately sprang into action and called the front desk to arrange for a room change. I was informed that the only possible option would be a room on the first floor. (First floor rooms at Bacara are typically quite dark and are considered the least desirable in the resort.) I was not inclined to accept a room switch that would put us in an inferior situation. I therefore decided to escalate matters by calling American Express directly. I explained that if they couldn't remedy the situation, we would have to leave the hotel. Is a pleasant room with no noise emanating from the adjacent room asking too much? The American Express agent was very sympathetic to our situation and she contacted the hotel manager on our behalf. About 15 minutes later, we received a call from the hotel manager informing us that they could switch us to a third floor room in the renovated Building 11. Fortunately, our new room had no noise issues from the adjacent rooms! So although it was a happy ending,it took far too much "wheel squeaking" to achieve the desired result. The rest of our stay was quite pleasant... the grounds of the hotel are beautiful, the pools are lovely, and the blueberry waffles at the Bistro are outstanding. But Bacara should be ashamed of itself for thinking it's OK to put guests into rooms that have non-existent soundproofing. This is what one expects from a Motel 6, not an ultra-luxury resort. Bottom line, if you decide to book a stay at Bacara, make sure to request a room in one of the renovated buildings. If they won't guarantee you a quiet room in one of the renovated buildings, I would advise either: (1) not making the trip or (2) bringing a pair of noise-cancelling headphones!

Too pricey guys, the service is great but the lounge/bar music was too slow like elevator music. Food at the bistro was good but about 20 bucks per plate over priced. So, if you could get a room for under $350, a night then it's worth it. Don't forget you need to pay a resort fee of $20+ which includes wifi but the wireless only works in public areas. Also, there's a parking fee for another $20+. So, take that into consideration.

Beautiful grounds, lots to offer from the private beach, various restaurants, pools, really nice gym and classes they offer, and hiking trails.
Our room was really nice with a balcony view of the pool and the ocean. It's a pretty quiet resort which makes it a nice escape.
The staff was Very friendly! 5 stars for hospitality.
It's definitely not cheap but worth the splurge!

This is our second time at Bacara. We are officially in love with this resort! Not too far from Los Angeles, but like a different world. The grounds are more than beautiful . There are little bunnies hopping around everywhere!
This resort is very luxurious, and you do pay for it( worth every penny for us). The service is outstanding. Workers greet you with a smile everywhere you go.
I would say that this resort is not for the lazy. The whole place is set on a sloping hillside so if you go down to the beach, beach bistro, or pools- you are walking at a steep incline back to your room. My husband and I love how active it keeps us, but I could see how certain people would not want to put out that much effort just to walk back from breakfast ;-)
My husband and I walked the property and beach every morning - what a delight! Being that it is June , we had June Gloom every morning but it burned off by 2 for the most perfect, sun filled afternoons to gaze at the most gorgeous views. We went to a complimentary wine reception at Miro one night- great wine, cheese, music , and views to die for!

The restaurants are all very good and we love sitting at the lobby bar and having cocktails. I would recommend this resort to anyone who loves a luxury vacation
