“Best Korean Food in Glendale CA”

I Love Tofu and BBQ
Ranked #187 of 462 Restaurants in Glendale
Cuisines: Korean
Description: New Korean restaurant serving Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank and the Los Angeles area. Formerly known as the Tofu Village, only the new name has been added ... same reasonably priced Korean BBQ and Tofu stew dishes served here by the friendly staff-owners. We had dinner here last night (03-17-2010) and found out the old Tofu Village restaurant had closed for 2 weeks for renovations and just opened yesterday under its new name and new ambiance, but the same great prices and menu. Suggest you try any of the grilled BBQ platters ... kalbi beef, bulgogi beef, spicy port. All very delicious and served with either white or black (purple) rice and the traditional Korean small dish accompaniments. These will cost about $15 to $18, but can be shared. Their Tofu Stew items cost about $9 and can be ordered as a combination with the BBQ meats for about $15 to $17. Also suggest you try their Korean Cold Noodle plates for about the same price. They offer Korean lunch specials for about $10 to $13 as well and could be shared. Those are specials I intend to try out. The Maryland Street Parking Structure is immediately behind the restaurant and you can enter from their rear door. The main entrance fronts Brand Boulevard and is about 1 block north of the Americana At Brand and the Glendale Galleria. First 90 min of parking are free. Great restaurant to go to before catching a movie or heading to the Alex Theater too. Given the large Korean population in Glendale, I am surprised there are not more Korean BBQ restaurants ... so this restaurant is a welcome addition for our family.

“Best Korean Food in Glendale CA”
Reviewed April 18, 2010

This downtown Glendale Korean Tofu and BBQ restaurant is a hit. This storefront cafe recently opened on Brand Boulevard in 2010 and serves tasty and very reasonably priced Korean food. It is a small family run operation near the corner of Brand and Broadway (across the street from the Glendale California Pizza Kitchen). Free 90 min of parking can be had at the rear of the restaurant (in the city-own Maryland Avenue parking structure).

We are big fans of the sizzling meat platters (about $15 per platter and can be shared by two) that include bulgogi, beef kalbi short ribs, teri chicken, and a very spicy pork. All the traditional banchan side dishes are included, as well as a choice of white or black (more like purple) rice per order. The noodle chap chae is large and very tasty too. We have not tried their signature tofu soups as I am not a huge fan of tofu. It is the sizzling meat dishes and the cool purple rice that draw me and my buddies.

Given the large Korean American population in Glendale, I am surprised there are not more Korean restaurants in downtown Glendale. The former Seoul restaurant and former Korean BBQ (both previously located on Brand) were early predecessors to this only remaining Korean restaurant in downtown Glendale.

Reasonably priced, good selection, and plenty to eat make this place a must do if you live in the Burbank, Glendale, Silverlake or Pasadena area.
