“Good for a business person, not so good for family vacations”
Reviewed June 15, 2011

I just stayed here 2 nights on a family trip. It is the first 4 star hotel I have stayed at that does not have a microwave or refrigerator in the room. On a family trip those things are nice. This hotel is also right across from a VERY busy fire station. The second night we got no sleep due to sirens leaving the fire station almost every hour during the night and numerous times at the crack of dawn. If you are there on business and getting up early to leave that might not be an issue for you. On a more positive note, the room was very clean with comfortable beds and they had excellent costumer service!

Room Tip: ask for the back side of the hotel! Front is NOISY

The Hilton - Glendale is one of my all time favorite places to stay, for business, or pleasure. It is perfectly located near Grifith Park, The Greek Theater, Dodger Stadium, Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. We often use it as a "jumping off" place for our Southern California visits.

We have stayed here twice over the last couple years because it was close to the S. California attractions that we were visiting and the price was the best for the quality we were looking for. It was clean, quiet and convenient. The only negative I can think of is the onsite parking is about $25 per day.

My wife and I arrived Friday night with plans to attend the Cinegear Expo at Paramount Studios over the weekend. The desk staff and parking attendants were extremely courteous. We were offered an upgrade to an Executive room with sweeping views including buffet breakfast for two for only $30 extra per night, which we accepted. At $122 per night, it was a no-brainer. The room was very comfy, clean, and the climate control worked perfectly.

The restaurants were excellent.

Great location, with easy highway access, and it's a few blocks away from Americana Mall where there is opportunity for outdoor dining in the warm So Cal sunshine.

Extremely satisfied, will likely stay again.

Room Tip: Take the upgrade!!!

Stayed here on a weekend trip to LA to get some sun. Booked on priceline like most people who stay here...and got a really cheap rate. However the hotel is awkward to get to (and a bit mis-labled on the travel sites that sell discount rooms).

The room was clean and comfortable. However I do not think it rises to the 4 star level. The staff is generally terse and non responsive. The gift shop closed early because the staff member felt like it, and no one really is around to help or answer questions. I think the hotel is mostly for business travelers during the week and they staff down on weekends since its not a core demographic.

Much better choices for hotels to stay at.

Room Tip: Up is better!

I stayed here over Easter weekend (Friday and Saturday night) while visiting family. I had a King Sized Room:

Pros:
-My room was on the 12th floor on the pool side and I had a gorgeous view of the LA Hills. Definitely recommend the pool side rooms if you can get one.
-Nice average hotel room - bed and pillows were decent and comfortable with an extra blanket in the closet.
-Good TV with extra movie/show options although I didn't use that.
-The hotel had a very nice small workout facility with state of the art cardio machines and some weigt machines, along with towels. One of the best workout rooms I've used in a hotel thus far. Also had a steam room.
-The pool is heated and looked nice but I didn't use it. The whirlpool is outside but wasn't available.
- I used the Friday regular rate - Saturday half-off special which was a really good deal for a hotel of this caliber. Friday was $109.00 and Saturday was $54.50.
-The location was good for our purposes - a Catholic church across the street (and other churches within walking distance), several family restaurants nearby within walking distance that had an Easter brunch, and close to LA were family was but in better area.
-Pretty quiet hotel - you can hear the occasional door slam in the morning like all hotels but overall pretty quiet.

Cons:
-No free breakfast. There is a restaurant downstairs but it's expensive (like $4.50 for a glass of orange juice - yeah right). Eat at Conrad's family restaurant nearby instead if you want cheaper - they have nice outdoor seating too.
-I didn't have a car but parking is expensive if you have one. No free parking for you or guests. Guests have to pay hourly parking.
-Updated bathroom but there were no towel racks for hand towels or anything. Also there seemed to be something wrong with drain plug - slow moving water but not major.
-A security alarm went off in the hotel on Saturday morning at about 9:30 am, which scared the heck out of me. I called the front desk because I thought it was in my room only. Thank God it didn't happen in the middle of the night.

I would definitely stay here again, especially with that price. If you can get a good price and can avoid paying for the extras like parking, this is a good choice.

Unfortnunately had a bad experience at this Hilton. There have been many reviews that warned about priceline customers getting bad rooms. Maybe this is what happened to us. We got a good deal on Priceline for 2 nights. In the room that we got, the Air Conditioning would not work and we had 2 very sleepless nights. The Engineers came twice to fix it, and explained that apparently the system not functioning was very common. One wierd thing was that the bathroom door was just a sliding door with no locks and there were no towel racks or hooks in the bathroom. The only good thing was that the hotel was clean and smoke free.
