“Great Hotel”
Reviewed April 10, 2011

Stayed here on business and it was great. Good location in a really nice area, but the room was what impressed me the most. It was spacious with modern furniture and a flat screen TV. There was even a mini fridge and I got a room with nice mountain views. The fitness center was also really nice. Spacious with all of the modern equipment. The only negative was parking which they charge and it's underground so it was a little uncomfortable going in and out. Other than that, everything else was great.

Let me start by saying that my biggest mistake was staying in a business hotel for a leisure trip. I chose this hotel for a 4-day jaunt around Los Angeles with my sister based on a few positives: I knew the Glendale area was upscale, safe and located within a short driving distance from the Los Angeles sights we'd planned to visit. It also happened to be 'LA Marathon weekend' and we could not get the aforementioned good deals on 4-star hotels anywhere in the L.A. area. It was frustrating to have to pay $170 + tax + $18 parking each day for a thin-walled room overlooking a parking garage and the hotel heating/AC system on a roof directly below my room. I was unpleasantly surprised to step off the elevator on our room's floor and find outdated, peeling wallpaper and scuffed paint on the room doors. The actual room was better in the area of decor and furnishings. 4-star hotel?? Only the price was 4-star.

We did not test the quality of any hotel restaurants, lounges or room service as the prices were absolutely laughable. The parking garage, however, was very convenient, easy to navigate, and had the most friendly and helpful employees.

This hotel would, most likely, be absolutely fine for a lone business traveler on an expense account. If you are a leisure traveler, I highly recommend choosing an alternate location and a hotel where employees are motivated to treat their guests with friendliness and respect.

After the time and effort to get "a good deal" on the web, we finally found a room "about half price" on Priceline. $74 for a $150 room. Room is nice, but not extravagant, but it's the hidden fees that come as a surprise (on Priceline, you do not know your hotel until you pay for it.)
With parking ranging from $18 to $23 a day, and cocktails at $12.50, and a room service charge (21% automatically added, PLUS $2.50 delivery) that is as exorbitant as any I've seen in 5 star European hotels, by the time you park and have a sandwich, your "savings" have disappeared.
Also, there are charges for the internet, which is really not very classy.

Front desk said they have a safe deposit box but that's not really an option...especially with everything we carry around these days...IPADs etc...This is clearly a business-oriented hotel and they probably need to step up their game in this area.

Fees fees and more fees! Typical of hotels of this class, you don't get much for free at this hotel... $18 for parking, $13 for the internet, and don't even think about a free breakfast or anything like that. Despite this, the hotel was nice because I only paid $62 on priceline. If I paid the published rates I would say this hotel isn't worth it.

Had a nice room on the 2nd floor...they seem to have been recently remodeled but I wouldn't call them eloquent or comfortable. Desk chair is hard plastic and uncomfortable but the beds were supremely comfortable. There was a sitting area near the window sill that was pretty cool as well. Bathroom was fine although the water pressure was pretty pathetic. Fridge for your drinks? Nope. Overall, room was quite spacious if not the hippest although I liked some of the Hollywood themed pictures in the room and hallways. I think this hotel also allows pets as I think I heard a dog barking.

Bring your own toiletries to this hotel... many Hilton's like this one use those awful Evelyn and Crabtree products that leave you smelling like an 80 year old woman named Evelyn. These are definitely not toiletries you want to stock up on and stuff in your bag on the way out! A woman in the elevator was complaining about them too so I am glad I'm not the only one who hates that stuff...

Check in was fast and mostly friendly and the parking garage attendant was really sweet... you have to hand them your ticket each time you enter/exit. Underground garage was nice and spacious. Elevators were a short walk from parking garage elevators. Lobby was nicely appointed for Christmas.

Overall, a nice hotel if unspectacular. Would feel completely ripped off if I paid full price but felt it was a nice for the price. Would stay again.

No concerns about safety or cleanliness , noise was minimal.
Looks like they are pet friendly ,ADA compliant , and non smoking.
Staff was businesslike.
This place is close to the Ventura , Glendale, and Golden State fwys Pasadena and Burbank r close by. If u have business in Glendale, the business district is 2 blocks away. The HUGE GLENDALE GALLERIA/ AMERICANA mall is a mile away and there are lots of shops and eateries within walking (6 blocks) distance. It is convenient to the Gene Autry Museum ,Griffith PK and the LA Zoo. Universal City, Citywalk, NBC and Warner Bros are also nearby, but this is not the closest hotel to those places. Bob Hope/ Burbank is the closest airport. Hotel offers a shuttle at no charge but reservations are required. MTA buses will get u to downtown Glendale, Hollywood, and LA.. The local Bee Line bus will take u all around Glendale including the the mall. They also get u to the transit ctr. which is about 1.5 miles away. U can catch Amtrak and Metrolink commuter trains from there
This is a business hotel, lots of meeting rooms and an executive ctr. Did not see a common use computer in the lobby, only computers were for airline flight crews and for checking in/out. I think they charge for faxes/ copies. There is wireless access in common areas at no charge, but u need your own computer.
There is a concierege and big gift shop, an Avis car rental booth, a great gym w up to date eqpt, a large outdoor heated pool/ jacczzi . The 2 restaurants had good food, but were pricey, there are tons of places to eat, some within a couple of blocks away. Did not drink at either bar during happy hour. The roof top bar on floor 19 has a great view, but non happy hour drink prices were outrageously high. Plenty of other places to drink in Glendale . Looks like u can get a massage, saw a brouchure in my room. Did not see it, but they say there is a coin laundry. Parking is $18 a day for self parking in an indoor lot. They have valet too.Not sure if u have in/out priviledges. Some people park in the neighboring street. Watch out, Glendale is RUTHLESS in enforcement of parking rules. Read the signs anytime u park.
My room faced south, not much of a view unless u stay on an upper floor. Rooms facing north and east have nice views . My room was about 600 sq feet. I am sure it was one of the smaller ones. Temperature in the room was comfortable, all the plumbing worked fine. Bed was clean/comfortable. Bathroom had shopwer/tub combo and toiletries, vanity area was not seprate .Did not see a hair dryer.Looks like u can plug your I Pod into the clock radio. There was closet w iron/ board. No in room safe.
If u have your own computer, no charge for in room internet access. They charge for phone calls. Flat screen tv had fair variety of channels, costs extra for movies/games . U have room service and a USA Today
My company paid don't know what it costs for a room. In other reviews, I see people complaining about this place after paying $70 on Priceline. If u can stay here for $70 , U SHOULD GO FOR IT. Join Hilton Honors for no charge , get points for your stays w Hilton or their many partners.
LA is so spread out, no hotel is central to everything, but if u need a hotel in Glendale, this is ok. It is not the cheapest.

My fiance and I have stayed at this hotel a total of 5 times over the last 3 years when visiting family and friends in the area. Without a question, this hotel's overall quality has deteriorated over the years. I must confess that we have used Priceline to book each of these trips, but what we experienced more recently is a far cry from past stays. It's obvious that the hotel is older and facilities are not as nice through the years, but the single greatest issue with this place is the deteriorating (I don't know how much worse it can get!) customer service. In short, they listen to your concern, smile in a condescending manner, then state a rehearsed speech about how they cannot accommodate your request at this time. From thin and dirty sheets, to housekeeping not cleaning our room one day (we had a 6 night stay) (and btw, when we returned to our room at 11PM and discovered that housekeeping had forgotten about our room, they would not change our room nor send someone to bring new towels etc without explaining our predicament thrice), to insisting that there were no King rooms while other people were being given King rooms, the overall attitude of the front-line employees (other than the doormen who are exceptionally nice) and their purported supervisors is one of disdain, disrespect, and "too bad" attitude. Again, I must emphasize that our reservation was via Priceline and I cannot comment about how one would be treated if the booking is done otherwise, but I can tell you with certainty that similar issues never came up with our initial three visits (and hence the reason to try Priceline again since we pretty much knew that Hilton is the one that takes the first bite in Glendale). Given our poor experience staying in this hotel 6 months ago, and the downright insulting treatment this time around, I'll never stay or recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to believe that the corporate leadership of Hilton (who btw owns Embassy Suites across the street) wants you to be pleased with one's experience with their main hotel brand. Also, I'd like to note that we have stayed in many 2-star and 3-star locations throughout the world, and in no way this review should be taken as an unfair assessment based on an unrealistic expectation of service standards. As stated, one can tolerate a less than optimal experience if there is a sincere acknowledgment of shortcomings and recognition of areas for improvement. But when three separate "supervisors" are TONE-DEAF and fail to see obvious shortcomings, then the best way to interpret this is that like no-frills airlines, the Glendale Hilton is trying to sell the image of a 4-star Hilton hotel, while the cold reality is that it has become nothing more than a 2-star disappointment.
