Owner description: We are a small family owned winery located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. We believe that single vineyard wines make for the most interesting and satisifying drinking! Since the early 1990's we've constantly looked for those vineyards that provide a great match between terroir and varietal. The result is an array of small batch, single-vineyard wines that meet our criteria. Whether the vineyard is in Sonoma or Napa, or our own estate, our pledge to you is that we will produce a collection of wines that are always interesting, always compelling and always delicious. Making over 20 varitals of wine there is always something you can find that fits your taste here at Mayo!

Visited in 2012 on a tour, came back this year to pick up more Barbera. Mmmm. Met 2 of their wine dogs and enjoyed a nice tasting. One of my favorites of Sonoma.

I would not waste a single minute stopping by this location, nor a single dime of my money. Sonoma is filled with wonderful small wineries where they treat you well and make you feel welcome, and have tasty wine! This is NOT one of them! We always seek out the smaller, lesser-known wineries that are not so commercialized because we find some incredible wines that way and almost always have such wonderful customer service. We stopped by this location and happened to interact with the owner. He was rude, obnoxious, and treated us as though we were an inconvenience. We will never be back, and will never recommend this winery.

We decided to stop at Mayo because it is one of very few wineries open past 5pm. We were staying in Sonoma and our B&B had given us a wine tasting passport which entitled us to a free tasting at a number of wineries in the area, Mayo included. Mayo is a family run business, the day we visited the tasting room was being run by Meredith, the daughter of the founders. The tasting room was pretty busy, they really needed some extra staff, so we didn't really receive any personal service, it felt very rushed and we didn't get a lot of information about the wines we were tasting. She was quite animated and entertaining so overall the tasting was quite an enjoyable experience. The wines were nice but not outstanding.

Visit was fine, very friendly and liked a couple of the wines. Bought a couple bottles and asked about flying with them. We were told by the guy doing the tasting that we could buy one of their packs for $3 each, but he suggested that we 'just wrap them in clothes'

Then we get to the airport and the Southwest guy says we must have proper packaging and that the wineries are REQUIRED BY LAW to provide them for free if we mention air travel. We ended up paying for packs at the airport. A nuisance more than anything, but not honest and not something I wanted to deal with on vacation.

I'm not a wine drinker but wanted to go to Napa to see it while I was in San Francisco. We booked a tour that stopped at this Winery. I'm not sure it was actually the winery but it was a tasting room. It was a very nice family run place. The owner took us around and showed us the equipment. We had five samples and they were good. I really appreciated the owner showing us his operation.
