We were traveling with another couple and had reserved cottages #5 and #7. Wonderfully quiet and private location. We enjoyed sharing wine and cheese at the table and chairs by the creek and next to our front porch. Dinner at the Inn was fantastic. Great location for touring wineries and the Jack London Museum and Park (a must see).
Cottages have great showers (with steam), tubs, beds and even the breakfast basket was OK considering the reasonable price charged.

There is so much to delight in at the Secret Cottages: the fragrance of Concord grapes from doorway arbors, oak barrels overflowing with fresh herbs and festive strings of white lights in the Inn's garden, and thoughtful amenities (organic herbal toiletries, a steam shower and double Jacuzzi, a great selection room of local microbrews and wines) that are often out of reach of budget-conscious travelers. The staff were lovely, and the location was private yet easily accessible to day trips on the Russian River and the Sonoma Valley. We will always return here!

Room Tip: Cottage #3 overlooks the creek in back and was very peaceful.

Stay away from the motels and book this fabulous place in the heart of Sonoma. We stayed in Secret cottages # 1 and 2 and couldn't imagine it being any better. Glen Ellen is a picturesque little town in the heart of Sonoma. You are within a few minutes of some great wineries and great food. You don't have to venture far for one of the best meals you will ever have as the Inn's restaurant is as good as it gets. We cannot wait to go back!

Room Tip: As others have mentioned, the bathroom is Cottage #1 is handicap accessible and doesn't offer as...

We stayed in Secret Cottage 2 for the weekend and really enjoyed it. The 'cottage' is really just a bedroom with bathroom attached, there are 5 of them. Beautifully appointed room was very comfortable and felt private despite being attached to a similar unit next door. We hope to return in the winter as there was a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub in the room which would be lovely on a cold day. If that's not enough, perhaps the steam shower will warm you up. The setting is very tranquil behind the bustling Glen Ellen Inn (if you can't handle the sounds of nature overnight, bring some earplugs!). We ate at the Inn and it was wonderful, so nice not to have to drive anywhere. The Fig Cafe is excellent and just next door for an alternative. If you are looking for a gourment cooked breakfast as part of the package, not the place for you, but if pastries and fruit will suffice, definitely recommended as a place to stay.

We reserved three of the cottages for a three night stay for a family wedding. The rooms are clean, but funky - by that I mean the lay out of the rooms is not typical for a hotel room. Bathtubs greet you at the front door - not a lot of privacy. Some rooms have absolutely no storage space for unpacking items, nor a luggage rack to just live out of one's suitcase. Since we were here for a destination wedding we had a lot of clothes and it was difficult finding places to put things. I would stay here again, as Glen Ellen is a nice central location for visiting the Sonoma area, but I would plan ahead for the lack of storage!

Room Tip: There are about five or so cottages. When you book, talk to someone at the hotel to describe your n...

We stayed at the Glen Ellen Inn Secret Cottages and could not have been more impressed. We love staying in unique, locally owned places and usually steer clear of the big chain businesses. Glen Ellen Inn was warm, friendly and inviting. The room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, jacuzzi tub, fireplace, quiet setting, outside chairs, etc. The staff was outstanding and the restaurant attached to the Inn served great food and even delivered the food to our room. Super easy, private, clean and top notch service...what more could I ask for!

Room Tip: All of the rooms should be about equal and in a quiet setting. The ones towards "the back"...
