We stayed at the Beltane Ranch for three nights in early April, and it was wonderful! We had room #3, and the couple traveling with us had room #1. Both rooms were larger than I expected, and immaculately clean. Room #3 had a bathtub, #1 had a small wood burning stove, and that was the main difference between the two. Either one is a delight to stay in. Both have doors that open onto the front AND back porch.
The view from the front porch is incredible.

Breakfast was served in the dining room, and was excellent. Everyone there went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and relaxed.

There are horses, birds, dogs, and even a cat (who thought she belonged in our room). Joe the dog is a celebrity of sorts, as he is a regular in L.L. Bean magazines. Apparently they take over the ranch in the fall for their catalog shoot. Boy, do I understand why!

The location is central to many local attractions and wineries.

I throughly enjoyed my stay here and hope to return sometime soon!

I'd studied the Beltane's website longingly for some time before finally making it there. It was worth the wait and is delightful.

The rooms are unpretentious, tasteful, warm, and comfortable. The ranch does not attempt to appeal to those seeking wall to wall carpeting and over-the-top luxury. Books and magazines are provided, as are cookies as needed or desired. The two end rooms upstairs have doors to both the front and back porches and to sit out there is one of the joys of visiting.

There are several good walks on the ranch itself; an exuberant golden lab may lead you up the path. One great walk leads through the woods by a creek. The Black Oaks surrounding the house were bare of leaves in February, but beautifully hung with gray-green moss. The ranch is close to all the good food and wine in Glen Ellen and Sonoma, but I was most interested in just staying on the ranch as it is so lovely.

Breakfast at the Beltane was substantial and delicious; the chef previously worked at Greens and Stars. Everyone I spoke with there was smart, friendly, and helpful. I did not want to come home and am planning my quick return.

Highly recommended

My wife and I spent this past Labor Day weekend at the Beltane Ranch.
It was a very pleasant stay.Location and proximity to Sonoma vineyards was very good. The rooms were spacious and charming, the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast were first class! Tennis, hiking trails, vineyards and gardens all added to the wonderful experience. We are already planning a return trip. The photo albumn of wedding receptions held here looked absolutely beautiful!
