“pizza”

The service is average, the food is over priced for the quality. I did not eat the pizza but heard from others it was good.

“Yummy food!”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Our family did a day trip to Monterey/Carmel by the Sea from the Bay area. On the way home we decided to try Mama Mia's based on reviews from TripAdvisor reviewers.

We loved it! We were very pleased with the restaurant's service, the decor and mostly we were very impressed with the food. Everything was fresh, tasty- not fatty or greasy.

The kids had chicken tenders and pasta- the chicken tenders were coated/breaded with Parmesan cheese and tasty enough for adults to eat.

We also ordered lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, garlic chicken, and fettuccine calabrese. Every thing was delicious, and the serving size was generous.

It's a quaint restaurant located in Gilroy. Don't be fooled by the location being in a shopping center.

The only reason we didn't give 5/5 rating was it was very warm in the restaurant, we were seated next to the kitchen/oven- we were a party of seven, we were happy to get seating so quickly around dinner time. But although we were right next to an open side door, we would have rather had the air conditioner on.

“Great food and service”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

We always have a great dining experience at Mama Mia's. The food is excellent. We love the fresh bread and the olive oil/balsamic dipping sauce - so good.

The service is always quick and friendly.

The remodel with the new bar is lovely.

“Not Italian”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

Let's face it, Mama Mia's is not Italian food. It's like an offshoot of American Italian food, which can be good but it's not exactly going to satisfy if you want real Italian. However, the ambiance and service is very good here and also the one in Morgan Hill. I will say that the MH location is better (the outside seating and bar is completely gorgeous and makes you feel like you're in a much higher buck establishment). In Gilroy whenever I wanted to order pizza the server would consistently try to dissuade me and tell me that it would take too long. I marveled at that every time because then, why have it on the menu? The pizza is actually the best thing to get at either location as it's rather excellent. Not traditional Italian, but really good nonetheless.
