“Raves for the Hyatt Regency Orange County”
Reviewed July 20, 2007

We stayed at the Hyatt in Garden Grove, California this summer while visiting Disneyland. I compared alot of hotel packages and this turned out to be the best for the money that I could find. All other rooms I looked at, including the Disney hotels, had only a single room with two double beds or maybe two queens. What was special about it was that it offered a two-room suite for about $200 per night, which was a room with a king bed for me and the husband, and another adjoining room, separated by french doors with a bunk bed for the kids, with their own tv set too. They loved it, we loved it, and it was clean, spacious, and well furnished. The breakfast buffett was really nice, with a great variety of fresh, delicious, healthy foods. It was priced at $22 per adult, but children were included. We did that one day and then walked across the street to Coco's the next, but it turned out we saved only about $5 off our breakfast bill, so the buffett at the Hyatt was nice luxury that turned out to be very comparable after all. The hotel, like many in the area, had a shuttle running on the hour to Disneyland park, so it was super convenient too. We did not have time to use the pool or tennis courts, but I imagine they are as nice as the hotel. I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

My husband & I just returned from a week long trip to Disneyland/LA. We 'won' this hotel on Priceline for an unbelievable price and this hotel was FANTASTIC. We were given a one bedroom suite in the North Tower and we really appreciated the extra room as we were there 8 days. It had a seperate living area with an extra TV, sofa/sleeper, a microwave, refrigerator, and desk. The only complaint about this hotel is the parking & internet charges. However, we were able to link our laptop to a wireless network from another hotel. So it saved quite a bit. Shower pressure was great and the room was very clean. Maid service was QUICK. We would leave the room at different times each day, and no matter if we were gone as little as an hour, when we returned, the room was already made up. Hallways were fairly quiet. We tried out both of the hotels pools and whirlpools. Each was good & seemed well kept. Location is great for food if you do not want to eat only at the hotel. There is an Outback, Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin, Coco's and a few fast food places within 5 minutes walking distance. Target is right across the street as well. Over all, a great stay at a fantastic price. Maybe our best priceline experience yet... A side note, the neighboring restaurant 'Belluno' turns into a nightclub on Friday & Saturday nights. So if you are returning to the hotel late at night, you may see some very interesting people that may not be appropriately dressed for those families returning from Disneyland along with very suggestive promotional flyers scattered through-out the parking lot the next morning. The club/restaurant shares parking with the hotel. Just a note. =)

Stayed two nights the week of July 4th. Travel quite frequently and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of service despite the busy week. Staff were quite responsive to requests.

Some have noted below the extra charges for parking, Internet, etc, and I have found that those charges are typical for similar class hotels in Southern California

Shuttle is excellent and reliable.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now with our family of five and grandma. The 2 room suite is perfect for our family. You walk into a sitting area complete with tv, desk, microwave, sofa (not sure if it was a pull out or not), chair and coffee table. To the left is a bedroom with a king bed, tv and bathroom. To the right is a bedroom with 2 queen beds, tv and bathroom with a vanity big enough for my Eurobath (yes, I'm one of those neurotic moms who won't bathe her 1 yr old in a hotel bathtub)

About a year before this, we stayed in a kids' suite which is a room with a tv and bunk bed and a room with a king bed, microwave, frig and tv...rooms are separated by a bathroom. This didn't work as well for us because though they all wanted to play on the bunk bed, no one wanted to sleep on the top bunk. AND I was always fearful that the little one would climb up and fall off.

Bedding was comfy, carpet clean both times we stayed. The children liked having grandma in the same suite (2 bedroom suite) and they had a lot of room to unwind after a day out.

Hotel has a convenient free shuttle to Disneyland front gates.
Starbuck's (yay for mom and dad! and a Pizza Hut on premises...convenient for a pizza night and kids' movie one evening. Be forewarned that Sobe drinks were insanely expensive at the Pizza Hut ..something like $4 each bottle.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Extra towels came up pretty quickly and room service was delivered promptly. Valets were quick about pulling up the car if we called before coming downstairs.

The hotel restaurant had a decent breakfast buffet...convenient.
Across the street was Joe's Crab Shack...super kid friendly,
and 2 other super kid friendly restaurants who's names I can't recall at the moment. Kitty corner from the hotel is a Target...super convenient if you forget anything and great for getting bottled water for the room.

IHOP and Buca di Beppo are down the street for other kid friendly dining options.

You don't get the "Disney Experience" as if you stayed in one of the Disneyland Resorts, but the money we saved allowed us to plan more of these types of trips for our kids....plus, if you ask our children if they liked staying at the Disneyland Hotel better or at this hotel better, they'd tell you this one because we were all able to be in one guestroom.
Would stay here again!!!!

The Hyatt Regency in Orange County is typical of what you'd expect from a Hyatt: Nice fairly large rooms, bright, attractive and that goes for the staff too! The pillowtop mattresses were extremely comfortable. The restaurant was good for breakfasts. I didn't get a chance at other meals. the biggest drawback was that they charge for virtually everything...$17 per day for valet parking plus tip, $25(whole stay rate) for a small fridge, $9.00 per day for internet access. Beware, those $1.25 bottles of Aquafina sitting on the table will cost you $5.00 at checkout. They need to reel in all the extra charges. The room rate was $160.00night, but I was there on business so the company paid. It is convenient to the Anaheim Convention Center, Disneyland etc. etc. I have to say however, that houskeeping was exceptioonal. Not only were the rooms immaculate when you check in, they have to be the fastest staff I've ever seen in turning a room over. I went down to breakfast several days at 8:00am and returned to my room about 9:00am and found it all made up already. Makes your head spin!

I stayed here for a conference and was pleased with my stay. The rooms are comfortable and the beds extra plush. Both the common areas and rooms have a modern, fresh decor and hallways were always quiet. The photos you'll find on this website from other travelers give a good idea of what to expect. The gym was fully upgraded and stocked with cool towels, water, and magazines. I didn't try the pool or spa but they seemed ok - not resort-like but pleasant enough. The front desk and customer service over the phone was very helpful and accommodating even for last-minute requests. I would avoid the California Grill restaurant as it is way overpriced for the small, tasteless portions and careless service (server talked back to us when we told her we were pressed for time and nearly threw the food at us, getting our orders totally mixed up). There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The disneyland shuttle was convenient too (too far to walk there).

If you can get a hotwire deal or group rate it makes this hotel a great value. Hotels around Disneyland tend to be overpriced and many times not too impressive, but the Hyatt didn't disappoint. I would definitely stay there again. The downside is that parking is pretty steep although if you are there with a convention it is a more reasonable price. Apparently internet is not included and the rooms did not include refrigerators but these were not important during my stay.
