“Nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

I have stayed in this hotel for seven days with my family for our winter vacation. The hotel’s location is very good since it is only a short drive to Disneyland. We have stayed in the family VIP room which is a two bedroom suites with two full baths and a sofa bed. The service provided by the hotel’s staff was very good.

First of all, the hotel's premises/lobby are impressive. The long driveway leading up to the hotel and the glass atrium lobby are quite nice. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful (from check-in, to bartender, to restaurant, to shuttle driver). However, we found our room to be just "ok." We stayed in the kids' suite. The room is two bedrooms separated by glass doors (we were hoping for a livingroom/couch of some sort). The HVAC in the room wasn't so great (very stuffy, not much air circulation); the water pressure/temp in the shower wasn't great (lukewarm) and the tv reception in the room wasn't so great (fuzzy picture). We didn't complain or ask to change rooms because we kept on thinking it wouldn't happen again the next day, etc. If we hadn't spent as much time in our "so-so" room or if we'd gotten a room without these hiccups, I'd probably be raving about this hotel because everything else was quite nice.

We used both swimming pools and hot tubs. No complaints there. We even used the basketball court (bballs available from front desk). We had prime rib dinner in TusCA on Xmas Eve. Nice meal. Starbucks was convenient. The shuttle to Disneyland was always on time. The happy hour at OC Brewhouse was great. My only complaint food-wise is that, while I understand the restaurant/hotel is trying to offer "healthy" meals for kids, it would be nice if they included a pizza (whole wheat?) or kids' burger (organic, grass-fed meat?) or turkey burger? Overall, a nice experience. I would stay here again but next time, I think I'll skip the kids' suite and ask for a "regular" suite so that our room has an actual livingroom that is separate from the bedroom area.

Room Tip: Our room was in the North Tower. I now read that rooms in the South Tower are nicer. Based on my e...

We were in town with a group of over 300 parents as our children marched in the Rose Bowl Parade. Overall, the hotel was great and had some of the friendliest staff...from the custodial staff to the parking staff. We were always greeted and many stopped to chat with us. The hotel has a huge atrium and there was a cold snap while we were in L.A. The restaurants and lobby were freezing. But, there are lots of common areas to have a drink and chat with family and friends. The location to Disney makes this a very family-friendly hotel.

The first night we were there (after a LONG day of plane travel) the hotel had a wedding in the Grand Ballroom. When we walked by, we all commented that it was the loudest music we had ever heard. Little did I know that our 10th floor room would ALSO be able to hear the music as we were directly above the ballroom. I understand the hotel cannot go ask and entire wedding to be quiet...but this was really nuts. And, they allowed the wedding to go until 1230am. While I was at the front desk asking to move rooms, three other guests complained and the hotel did nothing. The hotel was full for the holiday and offered a $35 credit on our accounts for the problem. All we really wanted was sleep. I've never had such a noise problem in any hotel...let alone a Hyatt. There were events other nights and we never heard a thing.

The rest of the visit was great. We had NY Eve fix-price menu meal at the hotel and it was very good. Also, the breakfast buffet was great - priced like all hotel buffets. Starbucks in the lobby is available 6a-9p. And, great local beers on tap in the hotel bar.

Shuttle to Disney is a nice convenience and ran on time. There are also several restaurants within walking distance, as well as a Target and Subway.

I wouldn't stay here for a romantic get away...but great for families. However, other than Disney, you are a long way from other attractions in the area.

We had a King Suite with Fridge and Microwave; reserved during a Suites on Sale promotion. Fridge/Microwave were handy to reheat leftovers.

Quite close to Disneyland; probably a 20 min brisk walk. However, the shuttle is completely worth it even though there is a $4 charge per person/per day. Service is prompt and on time and we did not have to wait for a second bus at any time during our 4 day stay.

There is Target on the south east corner across from the hotel - though we did not go to it. Right across the street (East) there is a Pizza Hut, Subway, a Chinese restaurant and a Mexican place. We carried food out from the Pizza Hut and Subway during our stay.

The Tusca restaurant has excellent food. We ate there the first night when they had a pasta/pizza buffet which exceeded our expectations for the price charged. The waitress was super courteous and offered warm water to my wife when she noticed that she had a slight cough.. We did not eat breakfast there however (breakfast was not included in our rate), However, we used the Starbucks and the Deli shop quite a bit.

Overall a great stay and would probably stay here again if we needed to be in the area.

Room Tip: We had a King Suite on the 8th floor North tower. There was some music wafting up from the atrium bu...

This was our first time staying at this Hyatt property and we loved it. Not only is it within walking distance of Disneyland, but it's extremely clean and nicely appointed. The best feature of this hotel; however, is it's staff. Super-friendly and attentive at every turn. What a treat!

Our king suite was a very good idea. There is a bedroom and a living room with queen size retractable sofa. The two rooms have a glass window and an automatic shield... kids loved that... Very clean, spacious and nice. Starbucks (opens at 6 am) and a Deli are in the lobby so some choices for meals as Tusca the restaurant was pretty dissapointing. We went there for the Christmas Eve and the choices were flatbreads and a salad and a small cake... for teh buffet. Wifi is 40$ pe week and parking 15. A Target is across the street so you can get all you need, especially if Disneyl;and is the reason of your trip there. A shittle runs everu half hour to Disneyland main entrance for a 2$ fee per day. Hotel is an excellent choice for Disneyland and Orange County. But if you want to use it to discover LA... not so good as it is a bit far fro Hollywood and other hot spots.

I've stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times. We return here when ever we visit Disneyland. Our last stay was 12/27/12. The hotel and Disneyland were crowded due to the holidays but the employees at the Hyatt remained courteous and friendly. If you have no tolerance of children this Hyatt is not for you. I love kids, my daughter is now 15, but please parents, don't let your children run amok in the hotel, consider your child's safety and the comfort of other guests.

I'm a Diamond and this hotel treats their Diamonds well. We always get upgraded to a nice suite. This visit we were treated to a huge 2 BR/2BA suite and there was a bottle of sparkling cava waiting for us in the room. Very nice. I feel special!

They charge $18 daily fee for parking which seems excessive when the other surrounding hotels have free parking, but I don't think my complaining will change that. Plus, there's now a $4 charge per person for the shuttle, but the shuttle is so convenient, it's a much shorter walk than doing the Disneyland parking structure shuttle. The Hyatt atrium lobby is modern and bright. There are 2 pools, so if one is shaded try the other, they are both nice. I'd like to mention that I used to always get my espresso fix in the starbucks located in the lobby, but during this last visit I'll happily report that they now serve a decent cappucino in the TusCA restaurant too. Thank you Garden Grove Hyatt, we had another fabulous stay and we'll be back!
