“Awful experience”
Reviewed May 1, 2009

After returning from the coast of Oregon with my mother we were looking for a place to spend the night. We had a long drive and basically came upon the forest motel by accident. After checking in, we walked into our "room" and it was dirty, smelly and overall disgusting. The bathroom / shower area smelled of mold, the bed sheets were stained and smelled bad. I was so exhausted from the driving that I just grinned and beared it. Of course I pulled the sheets off of the beds and slept in my sweats. To top it off I phoned my wife to see what the internet rate was for the room and was surprised to hear it was $25.00 less than what the manager had charged me. This hotel looks as though it may have been great in its day.. My guess is around the time of "Robinhood" This hotel was the hottest thing in town. Now its time for it to go to the hotel heaven in the sky.. I definately would look for something different if I was you.

Stopped here because our guidebook said it was passable, and it was. The room had an overpowering smell of either bleach or some other cleaning product and the service wasn't that friendly. The town itself seemed pretty cool though, so if you're on a budget and you have a blocked up nose, what are you waiting for?

I stayed here during the busy Labor Day weekend.

LIKED:
The friendly innkeeper, the hot tub, the room was very spacious, the location is great - in the middle of town, it was very quiet - one story so no one above or below you, the price was reasonable, everything in the room worked, you get a little refrigerator, clean sheets & towels, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water.

DISLIKED:
The room looked like it had never been updated, furniture was scratched and stained, the carpet was pretty gross, an outlet was missing the faceplate, the room needed new paint, everything was very OLD and had obviously not been upkept, though the price was reasonable, it should have been less due to the condition of the carpet and furniture.

CONCLUSION:
If you just need a quiet, inexpensive place to stay that's within walking distance to everything, this place will work.

Well Little John was definitely there, but it's apparent that Maid Marion hasn't been seen in quite some time!! The first thing we did when we got in the extremely small room was pick up chips from the most disgusting floor ever. After checking out the room more and since we have a 1 year old, we asked if there were more updated rooms available (there was no way I was going to let my baby crawl on that floor!) - they had one that had "newer" carpet for $70 more. We decided to check with the Best Western down the street - not only was it cheaper than the Sherwood Forest's "upgrade" room, but it was really nice! Beware if you plan to stay at the Sherwood Forest for more than one night or have kids.

me and my husband slept here for one night only because was the only motel avaible in Garberville. the motel is cheap but not so clean. We found a lot of ants near the refrigerator and also the carpet was not clean. Fortunatly the bathroom was ok. for one night you can stay but not for more days.

We stayed here one night and it was an OK motel. The price was reasonable, it was in a quiet location (i.e. no highway noise) and the rooms were good size. The pool layout is nice and there's a great deli/cafe just next door. However, the room furnishings are a bit shabby. Our room had drapes falling of the rods and a stain in the carpet - could definitely use a refurbishing.
