“Total Relaxation, All Amenities and River for Dogs”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

We had a most pleasant experience when we stayed at the Benbow Valley RV Park. Talk about relaxing! All of the spaces had green grass and some of the staff live there so it felt safe even though you are out in the woods! It was so quiet at night and all of the amenities were in perfect working condition. RV park guests just have to walk down a short trail to get to the historic hotel where they have the best restaurant with exceptional food! We loved the salads!! At 3:00pm, RV park and hotel guests are treated to homemade, warm out of the oven lemon-currant scones and hot english breakfast tea in the hotel lobby - YUM! The staff was wonderful, conversational, helpful and gave us a ride back in a golf cart after dinner one night. The bar was delightfully rustic with happy hour specials and a fireplace going - logs on the fire baby! Oh yea and the hotel lobby has a wood burning fireplace too, with board games for all to enjoy and an outdoor patio overlooking the river. Each day we exercised our dogs at the river. What a genuine treasure this stop was. We will go back. OH, and talk about sight seeing - besides the redwoods, experience small town americana for hippies in the next town, Garberville! The scenery is breathtaking everywhere you look - even in town. The bus picked us up in the RV park and we were in Garberville within 7 minutes. We walked through the town, thoroughly enjoying the cafes and grocery store, shopping and talking to the locals. For a hoot - check out the Hemp store!! The staff at the RV park are so down to earth and the showers were warm, clean and large. Love this place, thank you everyone!

Great place to relax in the Redwoods. Old world charm and great food. Our room was very traditional and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was wonderful and the service was excellent. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed long walks in the redwoods and along the Eel River.

My previous review basically said it all about this park.

It's older, near the freeway, with narrow sites and is clean and tidy. It is quite expensive for what it is.

However, we stayed here again on a trip heading south simply because of the location. We wanted to get somewhat south of Eureka for the night and since we have a big rig there is simply *nowhere else* to stay. Fortuna has an RV park and Willits has a couple - but if you have a large RV there is nothing else between these two towns!

We called ahead and booked a site since we were going to arrive after office hours. The site information was posted on the bulletin board so that worked very well.

This park is conveniently located and pleasant enough, but I wish the price was more reasonable in winter :-(

Room Tip: Premium sites aren't worth the extra money.

We only stay in these large parks on occasion. We typically stay at state and federal parks. However, we will stay in places like Benbow to use the laundry and let the kids use the pool as we are passing through an area. Benbow in general is tired, but I can live with that. What I dont understand is why the staff that we encountered were so grouchy. The older guy who checked us in and worked the front counter obviously didnt want to be there and was really unfriendly. The grounds were fairly well kept. The laundry room was clean and the bathrooms and showers were dirty. If you are passing through the area and need a place to stay, Benbow will do. But dont make it a destination, its not worth your time.

We stayed a week at the RV resort. The first day there we found we were about 5 feet short on our sewer hose. Went to the Inn for a cocktail and to see where was the best place to go get more hose. Meet John Porter there and he had someone come by the following morning with the hose for us to use!
WHAT SERVICE!!
Everyone was very nice! The sites are a little pricey( we were there over the 4th July) but the imenities were great!

I dont golf, but my husband and boys do and they liked the convience of having the course right there! It was a bit rustic according to them.

We will definately go again!
THANK YOU!!

We stayed a week at the RV Resort over the 4th of July Week. The price for our family of 5 was $67.00 a night. I thought that was way over priced! They charged extra fees for the kids. I think $45.00 - $50.00 would have been more what it was worth. The schedule of events thru the holiday were fantastic! They had a few ice cream socials, bingo games, glow in the dark golf, fireworks, crafts for the kids, a bike parade thru the park in which the kids decorated their bikes with red, white and blue streamers, hot dog lunches. There were small fees on half of the activities, for instance $2.00 for ice cream social. As for the park itself, it was nice, but just okay. The spaces were just average. Not sure why they called the premium sites "premium". Nothing to write home about. The pool was well kept, but older. If you like to golf, the facility was very convienent with golf carts sitting right by the office ready to go. We stayed here as a hub to see Ave of Giants, float the Eel river and do the normal sight seeing around the area. I didn't see a nicer RV park than this one within the area.

Room Tip: Sites further away from HWY 101 were quieter and the sites near the dumpsters stunk bad!
