Description: Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Fullerton, the Matador Cantina offers a fresh fusion of traditional and contemporary Mexican-inspired cuisine, as well as a full bar with premium tequilas and signature Margaritas. In addition to fresh house-made sangria, the Matador also features a boutique selection of Spanish, Californian, and South American wines. Guests may dine in cozy leather booths and traditional high-top seating in the main bar/dining area, or in the lounge with wraparound leather banquette, lounge tables and cushion ottomans. Exposed historic brick walls, hand-made wrought iron chandeliers, and an impressive candle-lit wall creates a warm and decidedly intimate ambiance. Original oil-on-canvas paintings and a magnificent iron bullhead statuette further hint to the space’s extraordinary décor. Ample and convenient parking located at the rear of the restaurant off Commonwealth Avenue. Open for Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, and late night.

High energy fun atmosphere in downtown Fullerton. Good house margaritas, nachos, and carnitas street tacos.

“Mata-cant....”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

Been here a few times for different reasons... but Sunday's incident was worth writing about....its a fun place for the most part but....

My friends went for the "Unlimited" Brunch, we I got there late, but we were tucked into a little corner 15 people having a good time, hard to stay quiet for such a large group. Food has not been this places strong point, but drinks are decent (short staffed, but well prepared)... The manager made a decision to CUT us off after some drinks because we were making to much noise.

So if you come in a large party, make sure to tell them to be quiet while you drink, otherwise you might be CUT OFF....

worst part, I got there late and since I was part of the party I could not get a drink for myself, I even went to the bar to get it!

“Food Great - Bartender Needs Help”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

We have been here several times. The experience is always great. However, we have never been to the Matador Cantina on a Monday. 4-14-14.

We sat at the bar, which is a very long bar. We were at the east end close to Harbor Blvd. For the most part we were forgotten. At one point we had to wave our napkin to get the bartenders attention down at the other end. He claims there were 25 people and apologized for the service.

Ok, thanks at some point he needs to get help or maybe he should pay attention and stop talking so much at the other end. We don't know what the issue was but the Matador needs to figure this out. We hope this is the exception, because we have almost decided not to come back to a great spot. Customer Service !!!

“Great interior!”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

Came here for a birthday celebration based on online reviews. Loved the interior design and overall location. The margaritas were too sweet and weak, and the fajitas and mole enchiladas not a hit. Fish tacos, and beef dishes were great. So overall our party was mixed on reviews. The breakfast menu looks really tasty however, would come back for this!

We happened on this restaurant on our way to return our rental car. We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and friendliness of the staff.
